Thinking about this moment because we actually see Rev panic and lose control. He’s angry, sure, but he’s also scared. And that’s what I think is mainly motivating his actions this time. He’d just regained some of his autonomy, and hadn’t even begun to process how he didn’t even know he lacked it for a couple hundred years, before his autonomy was being threatened AGAIN.
The first thing Rev voices panic at as he malfunctions is his lack of control. Pair that with him hearing the others refer to him as an “asset” and discuss what happens to him as though he’s a weapon and not a person? He loses it. Full tunnel vision. He’s cornered, and that fear of being right back where he was for hundreds of years is pushing him to lash out harder than he has before. Coupled with the rage that accompanies that? Not a good combo. He’s seeing red, determined to take down whoever’s messing with him, and act as out of control as possible to show them-and everyone else- that he is not controllable anymore.

I love how all of Rev’s legendary skins aren’t just shells he wakes up in, because all of those are just standard issue. He straight up has to go to a mod shop and get a new shell. And, almost all of those skins came from his own imagination, since the vast majority don’t have Hammond branding on them.

I love how the most competitive man on the face of this planet, the SOREST of losers the outlands has ever seen- decided to tag along to the carnival party.

The legends are stronger than me because personally, at the first melee opening I see I’m bike locking Rev’s chest handle to the nearest guardrail.

I just realized the sliver moons on her shoulders and the lines under her eyes are body mods, not tattoos or makeup-I wonder if they have something to do with how she controls the ferro fluid, or if they’re just there to look sick

I still cannot believe that Lisa contacted Seer, sent him a fake list of questions, and sat him down on air with DEAD seriousness to ask him why he blew up the moon with his eyes. And then took his silence for an admission of guilt like “that’s what I thought”. Girl he is in shock. He needed a minute to think like damn you can’t just hit him with the most insane sentence you can think of and expect him to have an answer locked and loaded. What did you want him to say??? “Listen, it’s time I fess up. I am extremely sorry for prophetically rapturing the moon when I was born. I’ll fix this immediately.”

I can’t wait for Rev & Catalyst to have interactions so we get silly magic-themed Rev voicelines like “I wonder what card you’d pull for me, Tressa…. DEATH?” “Watch it-none of those crystals will protect you from me.” & “consider me an omen.”

I’ve always wondered what Ash’s motivations were for doing what she did. And what her backstory is to make her the way she is, now. I think in the book she was much more cruel than she was depicted in the cinematics, but I’m taking both depictions into consideration here, since that could just be a matter of the book providing more context and being more detailed in general. This will just be me laying out what I know about her lore, with a bit of analyzing and speculation.
The first thing I noticed about Ash is that she doesn’t give a shit who is in her way-if she’s known them for days, months, years, or decades-she will cut them down all the same. And she won’t hesitate. In the book, she’s cruel about it too. She’s stated before that she sees the world through a “kill or be killed” type of lens, which explains why she doesn’t seem to like or trust anyone, and why she’s able to do what she does. She’s also insinuated before that no one has had her back but herself, and that her backstabbing others is “doing what it takes”. If she has family or friends is never mentioned, but I’d assume not. Another thing that’s never directly mentioned is who Ash worked for when she raided the lab. The soldiers she brought with her were Apex Predators, but her actual employer wasn’t identified. She later implies her employer promised her something, although she doesn’t say what.
Despite Ash’s generally cold and cruel personality, she’s also not portrayed to be incapable of emotion. She made sure Newton was absent for the raid, and anxiously tried to explain herself when asked about him & the raid. When fighting with Sim. Ash, she seems unsure about the backstabbing she did to get ahead, and doesn’t seem confident that she did what was best. She acts almost relieved when seeing Horizon alive, which may imply she felt some amount of guilt for attempting to kill her. She may also just be nervous about Horizon retaliating towards her, as she’s never been faced with someone she’s killed, before.
This is all I could think of for the time being on her, most of her lore is very indirect and implied, so I can’t for 100% certain what her past was or what her motives were besides just educated guesses and speculation. I was initially going to post this before the Newton post but needed more time to put it together!

This is something that’s been on my mind for SEASONS; Ash purposefully makes sure that Newton is not present for the raid. In the cinematic she tells him to take the night off, and in the book he disappears with Ash just before the raid happens. Ash kills and maims her friends with quite literally no hesitation. According to Horizon, her and Ash were extremely close. Ash babysat Newton and had dinner with their family. But Ash STILL killed Horizon. Without a moment of pause. Something she MADE SURE she didn’t do with Newton. She planned for him to leave. Did she have something to gain from him not being present?? If so, what?? Where is he??? Why is she so anxious to explain what happened?? Did she tell him to leave because she genuinely couldn’t bring herself to kill him after she helped raise him?? Did she feel leftover guilt from Horizon??? Was Newton in the way somehow??

One of my favourite Revenant mini facts is that when half of king’s canyon broke off into the ocean, all of Rev’s shells in that underground facility went with it. But because he’s waterproof, those shells aren’t out of commission. So sometimes after he dies, he wakes up at the bottom of the ocean. He said that now that he knows he can’t drown, when he wakes up on the ocean floor he’s “just wet and pissed off”.

The symbolism is very interesting for this season: Seer is of course represented by a moth, and Catalyst with a moon. Both moths and the moon rise at night, and both the moon and moths have ties to change in their symbolism, in different ways. Moths; direct transformation. And the moon; more final with the cycle of nature-of life and death. Not only that, but a popular theory suggests that moths use the moon as a waypoint to right themselves, navigate and travel at night; that if a moth spirals from a blinding artificial light, it’ll be able to spot the moon and use it as an anchor to recover. I wonder if (and hope) this is foreshadowing to how Seer and Catalyst will need each other to solve the issues on Boreas; Seer spirals after trying his best to navigate this all on his own, and will need Catalyst’s help to find his way again. There’s no way they’re not going to join forces at some point, they’re too perfect of a duo.
