saying this as a person who’s physically disabled. But the reason that doctors love to say physical disabilities are actually mental illness is because the general consensus is that the right way to treat a mentally ill person is to force them. When a doctor says my dysphagia is “just anxiety” what they are saying is that there is a class of people, people with anxiety, who should not be given any support or accommodation. Because the way to treat an anxious person is to make their life hell until they “shape up”.
