THE ONLINE ARTIST HANDBOOK

So I think a lot of us are struggling with being an online artist these days, with the navigation of various socials being increasingly obscure and even perilous at times

It’s why I had an idea: The Online Artist Handbook

What is the Online Artist Handbook ?

It’s a collaborative google doc where all artists all over various social media websites can contribute their knowledge of said socials to help everyone thrive ! This includes becoming more familiar with various customs and ways to post as a part of building your online presence, and things to watch out for.

The document is completely free and open-source: everyone can use it, edit it, cite it, download it, whatever !

How does it work ?

There are two documents: one document is used for submitting notes about various social media platforms, and a second one is a read-only document where all the information is properly written out to ensure clarity and ease of reading.

Imagine being famous celebrity Kamilah al Jamil, dying and going to the afterlife, walking into the office of the Architect(s) of your entire afterlife experience, and seeing a framed photo of your long-dead, way less successful sister in said Architect’s office because she and her rando friends reformed the entire afterlife system and are directly responsible for you and everyone else not being tortured by chainsaw bears forever.  How do you even react to that?

hot artists don't gatekeep

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

New info on the Revue Starlight Visual Novel + teaser released today at the Bushiroad Games livestream. The game will be called "少女☆歌劇 レヴュースタァライト　舞台奏像劇　遥かなるエルドラド" , Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight Butai Souzougeki: The Distant El Dorado".

No further info on plot or release date yet (but we can assume the previously announced Winter 2023 date is still relevant).

The Distant El Dorado is a play referenced multiple times in Gekijouban, as the play the National Theater Troupe is putting on starring Saegusa Chizuru.

It's also the play that Junna & Karen perform a scene of in the opening part of Gekijouban, and the one that Hikari quotes in the scene in London.

There's a few different directions this can go in, but the feeling I get rn is that it will definitely be tied to the events of Gekijouban in some way. Which I absolutely did not expect. But we'll see what more info comes out in the following months!!!
