mari nods. the gentle tone this woman is using is reassuring enough, and the promise of safety calms her worries to the point where she feels she can trust her to take care of her. she can't be alone again.

"okay. i'll go with you." that's when the other part of angela's words sinks in. "wait ....... did you say library?!" wide smiles follow mari's question. "i love reading !! maybe i'll find something new for once !"

she's always been reading. even after her mother passed, she was still reading and rereading her favorite stories, over and over again.

taking angela's hand, she smiles at its warmth. "are we ready to go, miss angela ? i can hardly wait !" she's holding on tightly despite her excitement, though, her fingers trembling at the thought of hunters.

'There won't be anyone else hunting me if I follow you, right?'

What a terrible question for one appearing so young to have to ask. Yet Angela knows well enough the reality of this world, where the strong write their laws in blood.

Her brow furrows in contemplation. This isn't the time for white lies.

"I cannot guarantee your pursuers won't continue." She begins softly, speaking in a long unused gentle tone. "However, I can promise you safety within my Library."

This was a first, inviting someone into her Library with charitable intentions -- but what else could she do? Leave this girl here, where she'd draw the attention of any number of dangerous individuals?

Now that Angela was aware of her existence, she couldn't. What a pesky thing it was, having a conscience. Yet it wasn't all that bad, either.

"Even if they learn where you are, it won't be easy for anyone to get to you and... I like to believe it is a comfortable environment."

the fact that mari looks like she could be roland and angelica's daughter in the project moon verse hurts me immensely and i don't know how else to feel about it other than pain and suffering

mari hesitates, still shaking. memories of her mother scatter inside her mind like fallen petals. it wasn't that long ago that she lost her.

would it be safe for her to go outside like this? to leave behind all that she's ever known to follow someone she barely knows?

yet ......... at the same time ...........

".............. this will be safe for me, right? there won't be anyone else hunting me if i follow you, right? if so, then ......... i'll go with you."

mari has to know. after all ........... the last time she was hunted, her life was forever changed, left alone in this world without a guide.
