Oh that one burned him. His jaw set, a muscle twitched in response to the well placed jab. He straightened himself a bit more, fingers curled until the leather creaked from the flexion. The shadows movement was not lost upon him. He didn’t move to leave, but he simply observed what was happening.  He’d seen a lot of things in his day, but that…whatever it was, happened to be freaking creepy. He hadn’t come here looking for this kind of confrontation, but he could count on one hand how many times he had backed down from a fight. “If that’s what you feel like you need to do…”

Whether or not the man belonged, he certainly hadn’t done anything wrong outside of wandering into the wrong place. Al didn’t mean to hurt him for that. But there was something to the man that really infuriated Spawn. The suit itself wanted to attack this man for reasons beyond Spawn’s fathoming, but he assumed it was his own demonic blood boiling.

In response to the hero’s answer, Spawn hissed and allowed the shadows to recede into their more natural state, excepting the fact that even as he stood apart from them, the shadows seemed to connect themselves to Al’s feet.

“It’s a waste of time, go on your business. Leave it the way you find it, and don’t touch anyone.” Seeming to glide as he moved, the hellspawn disappeared into the darkness again, although he was hardly gone.

After all, such information needed protection in case non-hellish ears were listening.

Looking around, the hellspawn then began to explain, “I usually do this in New York, but a few friends of mine’v gone missing, and I think whoever, or whatever, took ‘em’s in Central City.” It was true, Tom, and Richard, had both disappeared a few weeks ago, usually more than enough time to consider someone dead, but the morgues didn’t have any of their corpses in New York. And when Jerry was got, he had seen a business card for some coffee place in Central City at the site.

A mediocre lead, but his only one.
