so i wore a pride flag pin to work the other day and the kids were all interested (obviously) (find me a classroom of preschoolers who are not obsessed with rainbows) (i'll wait) so they crowded around to see.

"aww!" they said, "it's a flag!!"

but the thing is: they're little. a lot of them don't really have a handle on all their mouth sounds yet.

such as, notably, that tricky tricky "L" sound.

give yourself a sense of place and time. rotate your wardrobe when the weather changes. update your playlists every month. write down three things you did today. do it everyday. message your friends good morning. buy yourself different flavours of tea based on your mood, the packaging, the weather, your heart. save the little paper labels; stick them in your notebook until the inside cover is full of little colored tags. have it hot in the winter. have it cold in the summer. learn to make apple cider, raspberry cordial. spend the summer knitting a scarf for the colder months. spend the winter sewing loose flowy blouses for the summer. open the windows, five minutes a day if it's cold, all day if it's warm. give yourself a sense of place and time and weather.

Apparently there was some kind of race scheduled at a local park or something so I've been trying to avoid the main trail but a little while ago when I had to cross near it I overheard the following shouted exchange

Higher feminine voice: woo, look at you go! You're jogging! Keep it up!

I work retail with lots of manual labor (lifting and stacking plastic totes full of Stuff all day), so my hands are constantly busted. I know people for whom O’Keefe’s Working Hands cream has an oily sensation, but I personally have never experienced this myself. Probably because my hands are busted and crying for help, so my skin soaks up any and all moisture it receives. That said it truly does not take much of that particular product, the tiniest amounts go a LONG way. Think of it like adding black paint in a light landscape, start small and work up. I’ve also taken to occasionally doing a homemade sugar scrub to exfoliate the dead/dry patches, which tend to be in the joints of my fingers and on the callouses of my palms: pretty much anywhere there’ a lot of friction, there’s going to be damaged skin that turns into dead skin later. This is super easy and low effort—I legit just take a big scoop of coconut oil in my hand, dump some granulated sugar on top, scrub vigorously, and wash with a gentle soap. Then follow up with a lotion or moisturizing cream. I really like Aveeno’s sensitive stuff, but I also tend to gravitate towards limited ingredient products because I have a skin condition that hates it when something is more than 3 things. These days I’m using Dove’s 10-ingredient body wash for most soap purposes.

Alas, this did not improve the state of the peeling skin on my hands. That wasn't the point of the bath, but dear god, my hands!

i didn't hit 5 feet tall until a bit into adulthood and i remember as a child i would pray every single night for god to make me tall bc i went to a tiny school with only 4 other girls in my class who all happened to be like 99th percentile babies so they were all several heads taller than me and they weren't nice so in the summer when we went swimming together they'd purposefully hang out and chat in water just a little too deep for me to stand.

i never got tall but i am SO good at treading water and talking.

The crux of the anti trans movement is a war on bodily autonomy. They don't want you to have any agency over what you look like, how you dress, who you date, whether to have kids, etc.

They want total control over you. Not just trans people. Not just queer people. You. Everyone.
