“The Joys of Urban Gardening” Do you believe that planting really gives joy? Have you experienced stress and your stress reliever is planting? Do planting helps anyone to be better? Urban Gardening is the process of growing plants of all types and varieties in an urban environment. At first I’ve thought a million times what should I plant because it’s my first time to do urban gardening. It’s really hard to think about what kind of plant. I thought about asking my mom what I should plant as a first timer. My mom told me that mung beans sprouts is really good for first timers because it’s easy to grow. And my mom also told me that they plant mung beans sprouts when she was in high school. So I’ve decided to plant what my mom suggested since she already know how to plant it, so that she can help and guide me through my journey doing urban gardening. I’m so happy that I have experienced urban gardening. At first it’s challenging because it’s my first time to plant but with the help of my mom it became easy. Gulayan Klasrum is a very good story because it has a lot of realizations that everyone should know. As a senior high school student I’ve realized that even though I’m busy because of requirements that I need to pass there is one thing that can help me and makes me happy, that’s my mung beans plant. Everytime I see my plant it makes me happy everyday she grows. Maybe you are thinking, why she? Because my mung beans plant name is princess. I gave name to my plant because I want my first time plant to be memorable. “Never underestimate the power of a planted seed.” Just like me there are some people that underestimated my abilities. They see me useless but they didn’t know what I can do. Because they only see me physically but they didn’t know all about me. The same as mung beans, some people are judging it because it’s tiny and they think that it couldn’t help them. But they don’t know that mung beans sprouts is packed with healthy nutrients, antioxidants vitexin and isovitexin may prevent heat stroke, rich in potassium, magnesium and fiber, which may reduce blood pressure. I can say, “I find joy in planting” because it teaches me so many lessons. Like for example every morning I wake up early just to sprinkle water to my plant. And it helps me to manage time and not only reminds me that I need it to water but it reminds me that I can’t lose my joy. Yes, at first it’s challenging because it will test your patience but in the end it will be all worth it.

“My Best Friend” Have you ever met a best friend who have the same characteristics like your mom? Mothers are one of the first indications of the sovereignty of God in our lives. Mothers teach us to have faith in ourselves. I believe that our mother can also be called our best friend, because I believe that there are some traits that our mother have and at the same time our best friend have too. An amazing best friend possesses motherly characteristics like being caring,intelligent and supportive. Caring is one of the characteristics I’ve seen in my mom that is also one of the characteristics that a best friend could have. As a student I saw how much my mom care for me. She always show her love for me. I think if your mother cares for you, she loves you. Because being caring to someone for me is showing your love for him/her. And that’s one characteristics of a mother that I saw in my best friend. Being intelligent is one of the characteristics of my best friend. She knows everything about me. She knows if I’m lying or if I’m telling the truth. She is very intelligent in everything, especially in giving advices. She knows every move that I make. If I’m silent, even for just a minute, she knows that I have a problem and she knows how to make me happy. That’s how intelligent my best friend is. Like in the poem the boy named crow. Crow knows what is good for Kafka. Being intelligent is one of the characteristics that crow have because crow is always there to guide Kafka. Crow is intelligent enough to teach Kafka what he should do with his life. Just like my best friend, she’s intelligent enough to guide me. Being supportive is the third characteristic of my best friend. She always supports me in every decision I’ve made in my life but sometimes she contradicts it even so,I will still obey what she’s going to say because I know that it’s good for me. Because I believe that everything that she says and do for me will help me in the future. Her being supportive of me to be strong and smart to conquer everything in this world can definitely help me on how to shape out the best in me. In all that characteristics there is one person behind it, and that’s our mom. We have to thank our mom a million times for them being our rock, our safe place, our best friend. In every struggles in our life there is only one person who is there to lift us up. The toughest creature in this world. Our mother.

A Better Version of Myself “In life we never lose friends, we only learn who the true ones are.” When I was in high school I have a very good friend of mine. She’s always there for me through ups and down. At first I was so happy that I met her because I can tell her whatever I want and I trust in her. I trust her because I know that she can keep everything that I said to her. Even though my family problems that should be private is I told to her. But eventually when me and her has a small conflict I was surprised that in that very simple argue, she can easily tell every thing that I told to her with some people that I didn’t trust. I know that it’s a very simple secret but it’s a secret and a secret must kept. Trust no one and you’ll be happy, Because that one person you’ve trusted in your secrets will turn on you. I realized that we don’t need friends in our life because at the end of the day that is the only you can solve your own problems in life. Because sometimes there are people that are good to your face but talking about you behind your back. So learn to know who your real friends are. Learn to know who are true to you. “You can not change the people around you, But you can change the people that you choose to be around.” This quote always remind me to choose people that you want to be with you. Choose the people that you think are good in your future. That will help you to grow up. And we didn’t know it is possible that this situation might happen again to me anytime, anywhere and maybe in the future at least I know what to do. I’m so grateful that I was able to learned from what happened in the past and to learned to trust in God and trust in myself too.

“Metamorphosis” Life is a never-ending metamorphosis. It is always changing, always transforming. A butterfly is like a dancer that shows beauty in every steps that the dancer will perform. “I go with the flow. Whatever music you play for me, I’ll dance.” This moving statement is very appropriate for me because I am passionate about dancing. I feel I am like a butterfly that hops from one flower to another. Everyone stares at me as I give my best performance. My wings flutter to the beat of the wind along with the humming of the bees as I dance along. A metamorphosed butterfly symbolizes me as a person. There are four stages of butterfly metamorphosis. The first stage is the egg and like an egg, we are all born clueless and innocent in this world full of misery. Second is the caterpillar stage wherein caterpillars must eat leaves in order to gain protein as they prepare for the last stage. I need to gain knowledge and lessons in life that will help me to be tough and to be strong. Third is the chrysalis or pupa stage wherein caterpillar may look like they are resting, but inside is where the action is. This is the stage wherein I face some difficulties or problems in life that will mold me as a person to be strong that will teach me on how to be cope with problems I will face as I move on to the future. The final stage is the butterfly. The caterpillar that once strived hard to gain enough potential, strength, knowledge and good will is now fully grown. It is now where and who I am. A butterfly that is now free, contented and confident in what I have for I am now ready to face the future, to seek new realities and gain more as I fly through the harshness of the wind with its dust as the obstacles that I’m about to face. I am now ready to commit, ready to explore and ready to be what I can be in the future.
