Beak book!
For my beak book I decided on a different take on it, even tho I chose to focus on Christian Louboutin, I didn’t use images of his collections for my beak book. I decided to use pictures of red clothing. Street fashion/catwalks, the images I chose were in the same colour as Christian Louboutin’s famous red soles.

When I think of the colour red, the one designer that springs to mind is none other than Christian louboution him self. As we all know his elegant red sole shoes are what he is trademarked for and if you don’t know well...
The story behind the iconic red sole is quite spontaneous and it made history. The most amazing red soul trade mark apparently came from one assistant painting her nails a bold red in the studio. Just shows one small thing, can turn into worldwide fame. A ordinary situation that created an extraordinary shoe. “I selected the colour because it is engaging, flirtatious, memorable and the colour of passion” he told the New Yorker.
However, red also carries connotations of wealth an power, especially in fashion history and footwear. Red also associates to different meanings and emotions in a number of cultures.

Red is the most vibrant and stimulating colour of all. its a colour that gets the heart racing and the most power colour in the spectrum with the longest visible wave length.
Red is the colour of many contradictions, it is the colour of love, but also anger at the same time
Red is associated with so many meaning in so many cultures. For instance South Africans relate the colour red to mourning, violence and sacrifice; this is what the red in their country flag symbolises. Were as in other counties it’s the opposite. The Chinese wear red for the new year as they believe it’s meant to brings you luck, prosperity and happiness.
For me the colour red means so many things. Depending on its surroundings. Red can be put in a context of love, danger, passion, fear and power.
