Clutching the box she'd retrieved from her room, Rhiannon returned to where she'd left Brooke on the couch, the girls having their very first sleepover. It might've actually been the first sleepover Rhi had ever had, not counting the few she'd attended when she was very young, some pureblood parents feeling pressured into it considering the political power her fathers had once wielded. She'd hated them, anyway. No-one had ever spoken to her. But ever since Brooke had asked to partner up a few weeks earlier, the pair had been growing a genuine bond, one that Rhiannon felt pleasantly surprised by. She never thought she'd connect with someone like Brooke, but it hadn't taken her long at all to feel genuine adoration for the blonde. "Okay, so," she started, pulling the lid off the box, revealing a stack of tarot cards. "You don't have to try it if you don't want, but I thought these might help. I can read your cards, see what the universe has to say about you and Jake and everything else. But only if you feel comfortable."

As Rhiannon collected scattered pens, memories of Alicante came flooding back, moments she'd been desperate to forget. But one incident like this and she was right back in the academy's hallways, being shoved into walls and tripped over by seemingly nothing. Having no magical ability, she'd never been able to protect herself. But things were different here, they had to be. She was working on convincing herself it had been an accident when someone stooped to help, Rhiannon blinking at him in surprise. "Oh, Mr. Blackwell!" Now she just felt embarrassed. A teacher helping her, of all people, and one who knew her family quite well. It didn't make moving on very easy. She nodded, forcing a smile. "Yes, I'm fine. I'm not hurt or anything. I don't think they saw me." She tried laughing it off. She certainly hadn't seen them. "Thank you very much," she added, taking back the books he'd found with a smile. "These things don't get any lighter."

Troyan was just returning to his classroom to mark some homework when he noticed the very purposeful collision in the hall. Although the aggressor had scurried off quickly, presumably in an attempt to avoid being caught, Troyan knew his students and their behaviour well enough to recognise the culprit. Adam had certainly earned himself another detention. Sighing, he focused on the problem at hand, kneeling down to assist Rhiannon in picking up her books. "He caught you pretty bad there. Are you alright?"

Rhiannon tried her best not to linger on the incident. She liked to think it had been a genuine mistake, even though it very closely resembled how she'd been treated back in Alicante, when everybody took her for a freak, a useless squib. But things were different in Alexandria, better. She had close friends, a boyfriend. Nothing else mattered now. And yet, as she saw JJ approaching, kneeling to help her, she couldn't help feeling the surge of embarrassment and sorrow.

She was grateful, of course, but there was something about her new friends, the safety of their group bond, that allowed her to be vulnerable, that forced her to acknowledge her feelings. Someone she loved checking in on her made her realise she wasn't, actually, okay. But she found his threats more urgent right then, and Rhi shook her head at him, reaching out a hand to catch his arm. "No, Jay, don't. I don't want you to get in trouble, or get hurt." She didn't even know who'd pushed her, and she wasn't sure it mattered. With another sigh, she tucked some hair behind her ear, sitting back on her heels to take a breath. "Yeah, I'm - it's fine. I'm okay." Though her expression said anything but. "I'm sure they didn't mean it. He," she corrected, rising to her feet again. Better to just move on. "Thanks for helping. Um, do you - have math now as well?"

JJ was unfortunately too far down the hall to stop the incident from occurring, but he had witnessed it, his face twisting with anger. He could handle the bullying when it was directed at him, but the second anyone came for his friends, that's when he'd do something that risked expulsion. Still, checking in was more important than revenge right now, so he made his way over, kneeling down and helping Rhi gather the last of her things from the floor. "I swear, when I catch him, he's gonna' get the beat down of his life. I'm goin' right for this throat. --- You okay though?"
