Finally the finished shots of the dining room project for @katiaperezdesign . This walnut sideboard has been fitted along one wall of the dining room. We’ve housed it within an alcove and have created a bulkhead to hide a steel beam. Remote controlled LED lighting has been recessed across the entire width of the unit. Towards the garden end of the room, we’ve built a bench seat to match, with storage space within. Great care and thought has gone into grain and panel selection of the walnut to ensure book matching of doors and side panels. The seat will have an upholstered cushion on the top and back for extra comfort. The sideboard is being templated for its stone top next week. We will post further pics once the room has been re carpeted and the new dining table installed. We’ve made quite a few home offices this year. Here’s the latest, it’s all in Melamine faced birch ply. A tricky space below the stairs, but we’ve managed to include a whole host of storage to maximise the space. Included is discreet led lighting, a large desk with a cable management slot and an under desk shelf for keeping the cables tidy. The area directly under the stairs feature a full extension drawer for the printer. The panel above conceals a further hidden storage area. It is secured by rare earth magnets and is easily removable for access. Some initial pictures of the oak credenza. The property has been exquisitely renovated and extended. It features micro-cement floors and beautiful plasterwork to ceilings and walls featuring curved elements and hidden lighting. The credenza is almost 7.5 metres long and runs from a fireplace at one end, then curves into the wall at the other end. It features discreet cable management ports and is fronted with seven sliding and soft closing doors. We currently have a number of projects going through the workshop. Our current focus is this large oak credenza. It’s over seven metres is length and is designed with a curve to one end. We are using a mix of solid and oak veneered birch ply. We’ve now completed the dining table and it’s about to be wrapped up for its journey to my client’s home in London this weekend. This extending, 6-8 seater dining table is made from European oak. It has a solid frame and veneered tops. Slick running gear ensures it glides when the leaves are pulled open. The extension element silently unfolds from within. Some of the hardware we are using on the dining table. The table has an extending element housed discreetly within the table’s frame. Heavy duty runners together with aluminium profile will connect the folding top to the frame. Invisible Soss hinges allow the leaves to fold in the centre. Masterpiece fine art fair is back and as ever, a real feast for the eyes! Where else can you get up close to (almost) priceless and rare works of art! It’s actually a selling show, so everything is for sale. There’s so much to see, lots of Art Deco pieces through to contemporary. My former tutor @marcfish has a beautiful installation on the @sarahmyerscoughgallery stand of his Mokume Gane shelves there’s also a handful of pieces from Nakashima scattered around but the star of the show for me is my friend’s @krislamba RV2 chair in bronze on the @88gallerylondon stand. Some more progress shots on the dining table commission. We’ve begun to do some shaping on the legs and frame. We have machined a large round over on the external corners of the legs. We’ve then made two further jigs, one to taper the legs and a second to add a curve to the undersides of the rails. We initially work from a CNC’d template and then create our jig from that. The latest project is starting to come together. We are making an extending dining table. The beautifully quarter sawn oak has slowly been dimensioned down to size. We’ve made a full size rod and drawn out the joinery. We will use traditional methods to construct the table frame. The hottest week of the year and we’ve been installing two sets of fitted wardrobes in the loft rooms of this Victorian house. Really pleased with how they have turned out. The master bedroom has an L configuration with a mix of short hanging, drawers and adjustable shelving. The second room doubles as an office, but now has plenty of additional storage for the man of the house. Good to see the media unit installed this week. I’m really liking the proportions of this one. It’s a large room with a huge tv but it doesn’t over power the space.
