He feels awful, his wonderful mind moving at the pace of crude sludge. Courtesy of Arkham putting him on a new brand of 'sedatives' to make him easier to handle, of course. While it made him slower, more placid, it made going cold turkey a living nightmare. Edward swallows as another bout of nausea threatens to take him again, thin body wracked with pain as it complains about missing medical treatment. He focuses on the fingers running through his hair instead, the sensation keeping him grounded in the here and now and not how badly he wanted to throw up right this minute. If Harley wasn't here, god knows how he'd be faring. Probably sprawled out on the floor, trembling in a pool of his own sweat instead of resting his head on her lap. Certainly more dignified like this, Harley helping to keep him steady whenever the room decided to start spinning. Edward holds onto her other hand, rubbing slow circles across her palm to mirror her own touches. "How long was I locked up, anyway? I can barely remember a thing." @qu-tipie

As a precaution, Eddie keeps his Riddler bots up to date on 'people of interest' so that acquaintances and friends don't run the risk of suddenly getting attacked by a swarm of homocidal machines if they happen to come on over unexpectedly.

Hi, anon! Yes, I am happy and willing to write with other Eddies/Riddlers if that's what you're asking? I don't tend to follow them first in case it bothers them (or if they don't like my particular Eddie) since he's got a lot of different depictions throughout the series and they prefer other portrayals over Arkham which is the version I'm writing rn!

"No, I can't stop talking about it, don't you see? It's just too-" Edward's rambling soon trails off into nonsensical grumbles as Artemis peppers his forehead with kisses, only barely making an effort to resist her attempts at quieting his ranting. He'd been upset to say the least, jumping between various topics of grievances in one of his explosive outbursts. He hadn't had one for quite some time but lately one thing after another had gotten beneath his skin, like an oyster with too many grains of sand irrittating it - Batman having escaped unharmed from his latest deathtrap again. One of his Riddler Bots that just would not behave as programmed. The literal swamp of green paint still flooding his favourite basement, more or less six hundred cans worth of the stuff ruining everything down there. The fumes were so noxious it was quite impossible to go down there until the paint finally dried up, unless he got ahold of a respirator which would have been pointless anyway given everything he needed was surely caked up in green muck. To top it all off, they'd stopped making his favourite flavour of sugar-free energy drink and he really, really needed one right now. He can't focus on anything, not when everything seemed to be going against him as of late and Edward can only sort of mumble as Artemis, fed up of his tantrum, pulls him up off his seat, suggesting they go watch hockey or something to take his mind off things for a while. "I don't want to." Edward manages to mutter sulkily but he lets her pull him into the living room, flopping down on the coach to which she switches on the television, passing him a red bull before pulling him into her arms like he were an unruly house cat. He grumpily nurses the can she'd given him while watching meatheads skate on ice before recognizing one of the players, to which he points out and comments on.

Since it's father's day how would Eddie be as a dad?

Oh gosh, what a question. Don't get me wrong though, because this is a really good one but the answer can vary a LOT depending on certain factors. All in all, Ed's not going to be winning any father of the year awards. Worst (or best?) case scenario? He stays the HELL away. Edward's got enemies out there, many of them dangerous and is well aware that having children makes them even more tempting targets due to their vulnerabiliy. At best he'll just fund them on the side, out of sight and out of mind. More under the cut bc this may get long, hold up.

Now, as a father? He's not had the best role models. Ian had good intentions to start with, wanted Edward to grow up into a respectable man but he was short-tempered and easily resorted to physical punishment even for minor annoyances, something Edward never forgot nor forgave. He wouldn't be physically violent towards a child of his (we're scraping the bottom of the barrel here) but as a narcissist, Edward IS prone to forgetting or straight up ignoring that other people have thoughts and feelings too, especially little people. Best case scenario? He sees the child as an extension of himself, a brand new mind to carefully nurture. Unfortunately it's also the worst thing because Edward can be so critical it's cruel, and it wouldn't take long before he got frustrated or annoyed with a child struggling to do what he considers simple and it would be a looooong learning experience for him to relax on that front. His partner (if there is one) would really have their work cut out for them to keep him in line so that he wouldn't leave them with lasting negative memories or complexes like his own father caused in him. Cycles of abuse and all that. Now that's out of the way, positive qualities! On the plus, Edward would at least be invested in his child's education. His progeny HAS to be intelligent, inheriting his very best traits so he'd provide in that area, make sure they did their homework, that sort of thing. Again, this can turn unpleasant if his child doesn't live up to his expectations (or wasn't so lucky to be as smart as their father) but he's nothing if not stubbborn, he WILL make sure they understand eventually! Personality wise? Aloof, emotionally reserved. Ian was not the most caring father figure and often left Edward to his own devices, bordering on downright neglect in his later childhood years. Edward can provide funds, resources and other things but emotionally he's coming up short. What do you mean you're upset, you've got a full belly, toys, books, clean clothes and stuff. Go away, you're bothering him. So yeah. He's not downright terrible but he sure as fuck isn't winning any father of the year awards either. Other good traits is that he wouldn't care whether he had a son or a daughter; they'd be treated the same more or less, maybe being more protective with a girl. He saw things during his time working at the GCPD, you know.

JP!AU-themed fun, a little late (again)

"Somebody will come looking for us sooner or later, you know." Edward mutters under his breath, shifting his arms so that Artemis has an easier time managing the sheets. Despite his words, he's in no hurry to get up and go either. Dawn is just breaking over Isla Nublar and somewhere in the distance, the Brachiosaurus can be heard singing in their low, melodious rumbles, welcoming the sun. It's funny. He'd been working here for well over a year but he'd never actually heard or seen much of the early morning. Nedry would often have him work late into the night, usually waking up sometime after breakfast. Since Artemis had gotten him into the habit of leaving his office more regularly, Edward was seeing there was more to life than endless coding and scanning numbers, that there were reasons why they were both here. Reasons that would have them getting up soon whether they liked it or not, and right now, Edward would have been perfectly happy to stay here with her forever, watching the cloudy skies slowly warp from a hazy purple-grey to a glorious caribbean blue. Another sound joins the Brachiosaurus. It seemed that the Parasaurolophus were waking up too and the sounds make him smile almost as much as the park ranger seated next to him. Who cared if Nedry or Muldoon got pissed neither of them were at their stations on time for once? He shifts as Artemis curls into his side, moving so that she can rest her head on his shoulder. Let them have this moment, just the two of them enjoying a quiet morning free from InGen's endless demands.
