Playing itself up as a gritty street racer with attitude, Ridge Racer Unbounded abandons the series' previous hallmarks of high-speed circuit racing and endless powerslides and opts for burly muscle cars and generic supercars knocking twelve shades out of one another in wide-open city streets. Rewarding players for taking out racers and destroying the city's parked cars and scenery, Unbounded is a fun-enough racing game for a few minutes at a time. Creating enough chaos enables your vehicle's boost function, allowing you to parade through otherwise-solid walls and scenery which opens up shortcuts, giving you an upper hand against the competition. A solid track editor, built with a variety of pre-decorated blocks, adds to the entertainment value but Bugbear Entertainment - previously renowned for banger racing series Flatout - can only do so much to disguise the fact that there isn't much substance to Unbounded at all. It's the Bourne Legacy of the racing game world - besmirching a renowned brand name for the sake of a product that really doesn't deserve much of your time nor money. I simply could not believe how good this game is. This game sold very poorly, and as such, went under the radar for most. It draws far more inspiration from games like the PS2 Burnout games and the Flatout games. In fact, it was made by the developers of Flatout Bugbear Entertainment. I think the AI is pretty merciless, and I suspect they do cheat a bit, but as long as you build up boost relatively frequently you can defeat them easily enough. This game is all about destroying the environment like Split Second and your opponents like Burnout in glorious slow motion action, drifting, and chaining this all together to win. There's also other types of events such as drifting and a "Frag" event, where you eliminate as many police cars as possible. Buy this game. One person found this helpful. I do not regret buying this game and it is a good addition to my collection of PS3 games. Good value for money and delivered in good time. Arcadian stile , but speed rush and adrenaline is nice. I like arcadia style games. Somtimes this city demolition feels stupid , but sometimes ok fun.. And you can build own city too and run own way- this is somthing new and very likable possibility. Not a bad game, it is much the same as any of this series but as I believe the X-Box Forza series to be the best gaming experience except GT5 on the PS3, this game has to take a back seat.
