Lincoln Park Zoo

The Lincoln Park Zoo, located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, is one of the oldest zoos in the United States. It is open every day of the year except Christmas Day. The zoo began in 1868 when the City of Chicago purchased two deer and a pair of swans. The zoo now occupies 35 acres (14 ha) within Lincoln Park and contains more than 1,200 animals representing 230 species.
