Reasons someone may not have replied that aren’t the bad reasons your brain suggests to you (they’re mad, stopped caring, you aren’t important, etc).

They’re asleep/resting.

They have no service.

They want to take time to form their reply.

They don’t have the energy to reply right now.

They’re working / don’t have access to their phone.

They accidentally opened the notification and meant to reply and got distracted (this doesn’t mean they don’t care either! I do this a lot and I love my loved ones dearly. My brain is just chaotic sometimes.)

They’re in a really bad place.

They’re in a situation where it’s rude to use their phone.

They really just want a break from talking to people.

They are enjoying a movie, game, activity, etc.

Something came up they had to deal with asap.

A lot of the time, to challenge irrational thoughts we need alternative explanations to combat them. Here are some for a situation when a loved one hasn’t replied to you. I encourage you to plan for other situations that come up for you as well.

it always hit me every now and then that Lee has no sense of direction, so I always giggle at the thought of him being so amazing with guns, codes, fighting off corrupted but boy can't, for the love of god, figure out where's south, west, east or north.

imagine suddenly, in one if Gray Raven's mission, he has to take a detour because he got surrounded and he couldn't go back using the same route, he use his navigation system but maybe there's some interference so now he has to rely on his own sense of direction and end up in circles. i cannot. (it actually happened)

“Lee is probably the greenest flag I've ever liked”, I said to myself knowing very well he has some red stains.

... but can you blame him? for not trusting others even after years of being together? for thinking emotion can be misleading and should be controlled? for building a wall so tall and strong no one has ever dared to climb or destroy? can you blame him for thinking it's better to carry everything on his shoulder because he doesn't want to "bother" anyone after having to rely only in himself for so damn long? can you blame him?

no. because he didn't have any other choice. he was left alone with a younger brother who had a heart condition and the little money he could earn was never enough. because he couldn't trust anyone when the world was so selfish, because there was no one.

You can't blame him for taking that kind of job, he was just a teen/young adult when he had to involve himself with such a dark world and face death so many times, his and others. Because his duty was to protect his brother and save him, he neglected himself, he had to focus only on survive, slowly getting numb, forgetting about trust, teammates, kindness.

How can you blame him for, after so many years, he decided to carry the same weight as "Lee"? Fighting alone, going through the same mistakes over and over, failing countless time, and breaking himself into tiny pieces for a single chance of success. You can't, because it's not his fault, it's not his fault he needed time, a second chance to believe again. And of course, he needed the right people, teammates he actually found and made him feel safe again, made him understand he can trust in them.

He found a "home" where he can be himself, where he can enjoy the simple things even in such a time. He found a place where he can allow himself to feel, to trust, to rely, to share his burden.

Then I thought "hey that kinda sounds French, I wonder if its an actual word."
