How I landed My First Intership
"How do I apply for internships?" "How did you land that interview?" "Wait, how do I even make a resume?"
Yep, these are just a few of the rapid-fire questions I’ve been bombarded with since I casually mentioned getting 3 internship offers out of 4 (I swear, not trying to flex). 😅
But hey, calm down—I've got you covered! Here's a step-by-step cheat sheet I followed to snag my dream internships. Trust me, it works!
1. Pick a Domain/Niche:
First things first: you’ve got to figure out what field you want to intern in. For me, it was Digital Marketing—SEO, Social Media, the whole shebang (and no, I’m not hogging it, there’s plenty of room in this field!). For you, it could be accounting, IT, or even digital marketing too (just don’t come for my spot! 😜).
2. Choose Your Source:
Next, where do you find these internships? LinkedIn? Naukri? Personally, LinkedIn is my go-to (and no, they didn’t pay me to say that—yet). Seriously, it’s one of the best platforms out there. You even get job alerts right in your inbox, saving you time to actually focus on acing your applications.
3. Crafting the Resume (Not as Painful as You Think):
Most colleges drill into you about placements but never teach you how to frame a resume. Don't worry—I’ve got your back! Here’s how mine looked:
Basic Info: Name (Big and Bold), Email, Phone Number, and LinkedIn (optional but cool).
Profile Summary: Give them a quick sneak peek of your awesomeness.
Education: College, 12th and 10th Boards (yes, they still matter), and any certifications.
Skills: “I have no skills”—sound familiar? FALSE. You have skills, you just haven’t unlocked them yet. Even basic communication counts!
Additional Info: Anything that makes you stand out. Sports, societies, 100 percentiles—throw it in.
4. Ace the Interview (Like a Pro):
Alright, so you've got the interview—here’s how to crush it:
Stay cool (they mostly want to know about you anyway).
Choose a quiet spot (you don’t want mom yelling, “Beta, khaana kha le” in the background).
Revise technical terms in your niche (show ‘em you know your stuff).
Keep it professional (no society uncle vibes—straight to the point).
Final Thoughts:
I hope this little guide helped you. But wait—let me be a little biased here as I am a Delhite.
So, Delhite's if you are a college student or even a working professional who want just give back to society or just want to just give back to the society. Pehchaan: The Street School has over 75 new openings ranging from teacher interns to social media promoters.
