Ritsu had just said, “if you’ve done something to piss my brother off, you’re in big trouble.” He was talking about Mob’s anger, and Shou incorrectly read Ritsu’s fear of that anger as, “when my brother is angry, I get hurt.” Shou knows what it’s like growing up afraid of an extremely powerful esper in the family. That’s what this single frame is telling us.

Ritsu isn’t afraid of Mob, though–not anymore. In the past, he worried that Mob would hurt him with his powers if he ever angered him, but that was a tragic misunderstanding. Mob would never harm Ritsu on purpose; harming him by accident is literally his worst fear.

Shou’s dad, though? Touichirou isn’t like Mob, to say the least. Shou isn’t afraid of Touichirou right now, but I doubt that was always the case.

some fangirling real quick - im obsessed with how different the animation feels in the mogami arc. That rawness, uneven lineart, it aids the unsettling vibe incredibly. The cinematic camera angles, the changed aspect ratio- caging you in, shrinking your perspective, i was catching the feeling like the camera is in my personal space. Peak horror
