what is life if not an excuse to find beauty in the world

Most hoard images from Wikipedia.
Found with the rest of the hoard, the handaxe pictured above was probably found either while digging his own hole for the treasure or maybe earlier in a precious bout of hoarding by some Romano-Briton who thought it was cool enough to bury along with all of his coins and Juliane's bracelet, because cool rock. This was absolutely the correct move.

Just saw a small child fishing by the river instead of being on his phone. Is this how we want our society to be…?

trans women specifically are so hated that getting mistaken for a trans woman is dangerous. thank god all of us can clear up that we aren't trans women to defuse that tension a little bit, thank god we can all fall back on not being trans women when it comes to legal matters. imagine if you couldn't do that. sure would suck if there was a type of person who couldn't do that. glad none of us are like that though.
I'm Glad We're All Equally Susceptible To Being MISTAKEN For Trans Women. Truly We Are All Faggots In The Eyes Of The State.

I originally had a Hot Take planned on the Succession Crisis, but it's taking a while (I'm traveling, so can't use my Laptop). So, quick Hot Take on my phone
Modesty in Hebrew is צְנִיעוּת (Tznuit). צְנִיעוּת in Rabbinic Judaism does deal with specific clothes (such as the Head Scarf for Women), but not just that. The word has connotations of Humility as well (for example, it is considered being צְנִיעוּת to not call attention to yourself when giving Charity). This can also connect to the BoM (where wearing of costly appeal is a Sin), and D&C ("let all thy garments be plain, and their beauty the beauty of the work of thy hands")
Modesty in Koine (NT) Greek is κόσμιος (Kosmios). It comes from the word κόσμος (Kosmos). Kosmos does relate to the Universe (hence the word Cosmos), but it is also the word for Order. In Koine, κόσμιος relates more to everything being in it's proper place
So, Modesty is not about what we're wearing, but the appropriateness of the situation, and the humility we have
It is perfectly Modest to wear a Bikini at the Beach, but not in the Temple. It is perfectly fine to wear nice clothing, but not to use it to make other people or ourselves think we're better than anyone else (I was talking to a School Admin once, and I said I liked his vest. He took it off, and gave it to me. I tried to turn him down, but he said he was born in the South, and that's just how he was raised. Several years later, and I still have that beautiful vest. That's a good example of what I'm talking about, when it comes to Humility)
Thing is, the Church is starting to agree. The "For Strength of Youth" booklet says we should make decisions that show respect to our Bodies, but doesn't give any rules beyond that
And Christ has always agreed. If you look at someone with Lust, that's your issue, not theirs. If your eye makes you wanna sin, then pluck them out (the thing is, I never got when in Church or Seminary I heard messages about Modesty aimed at women, because I always took that to heart. It's not women's responsibility to not be leered at, it's mine to see them as a person & not an object. But apparently, women needed to cover up because men can't control their thoughts. Ugh)
And a final thought, when I read "and their beauty the beauty of the work of thy hands," I thought of Kintsugi, the Japanese Practice of using Gold Lacquer to mention pottery, highlighting the damage, as opposed to hiding it. I imagined clothes being mended & patched, not trying to make the damage unnoticeable, but to use it as a way to beautify their clothes
Is that what it meant, no. But is it a valid interpretation. Well, as the Talmud said "The Torah is not in Heaven" (meaning that, once the Law was given, it is up to the Community to interpret them, provided they don't oppose the Law)

"average person suffers 2 lifetimes of suffering in their lifetime" factoid actually statistical error. Jesus Georg, who went to a garden and suffered the sins and sorrows of all mankind, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.
