"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come." 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalms 23:4 Broken by sin. Saved by grace.

“Whenever your heart starts to be anxious about the future, preach to your heart and say, ‘Heart, who do you think you are to be afraid of the future and nullify the promise of God? No, heart, I will not exalt myself with anxiety. I will humble myself in peace and joy as I trust this precious and great promise of God—He cares for me.’”

Sometimes crying is the holiest thing you can do. Sometimes it’s sleeping. Or cooking for a friend. Or sending a note in the mail. Or listening to someone share how bad their work day was or about how scary the future seems.
Sometimes sitting in silence - really sitting in that excruciating emotional pain and muttering the words “I don’t understand” and “God, please help me” over and over - sometimes that’s the most intimate and raw and spiritual thing.
Sometimes what we think is the least “holy” is actually so close to the very heart of God.

Sometimes my conversations with God are about serious matters and big convictions.
And other times, they’re just about my day, and my personal life, and my dreams for the future, and all kinds of ordinary things like the weather.
What’s amazing is how He always listens so attentively. And I think that’s the way prayer really ought to be. Like chatting with a good friend.

I love it when God interrupts my thoughts and reminds me that the battle is not mine, but His.
