I always thought that Mine was older than Daigo bc that Hakuho clan member Mine stabs mentions daigo being a “kid” and that he was in diapers not that long ago, and also says Mine would be a better chairman. IMO it wouldnt make sense to say that if they were close in age. Actually, i like the idea that Mine and Kiryu are the same age the most. That would make him only 7-8 years older than Daigo, but i think it makes the most sense especially since Mine has that line about wishing he met Kiryu sooner. No one ever mentions it but Mine and Kiryu are so similar and different all in one…… and in the end…. They both left daigo </3…

Regardless, the way i draw him is still somewhat conventially attractive, he just has a little chub, eyebags, stubble, and messy hair. Like chill lol

Minedai is so compelling to me bc unlike other villains who typically blame the Tojo clan for their frustrations, or otherwise see it as a means to an end, Mine Yoshitaka seeks to.. care for it? His goal is to protect, to strengthen it, it’s about persistence, longevity. Because it was a dream shared to him by the person he cares about the most, Daigo. Whether you choose to believe it’s romantic or platonic it is undeniably love that inspires him, leading the Tojo clan his way is the most successful way to him therefore accomplishing daigos goal. His affections for daigo are very selfless, i find it really charming since he laments about scrapping and fighting his entire life, as a youth selfishness was the only way he could survive. His passive and level headed personality in the beginning is subverted as he gets more Irritated by outsiders meddling, and it quickly becomes clear he has no hang ups over the sanctity of life like kiryu +co (beheading and disposing of whatever is in his way). I always thought his hostility towards the orphanage tied back to his self hatred. He’s so personally offended and affected by them it’s almost comical, calling the kids dogs and slapping haruka! But really he too is powerless over his circumstances much like them, he cannot cope with his perceived loss of daigo, hes utterly hopeless over it and it distresses him greatly. Yet he clings to himself, confesses he will live selfishly as “pointless” as it is bc by being alive he still has memories and a legacy (ie daigo) to preserve and protect. Much like kiryu, it’s love that inspires him, love that faults him, and love that blinds him. Mine is a very romantic character, from the Kirin on his back, to jumping off the ledge, hes very dramatic. It’s his love that compels him to jump, to atone, love that fuels guilt and shame and its love that tells us that he really would never betray daigo.

I love infinite wealth, when daigo tells kiryu “what would you know about what we’ve been through” it’s soooo good. Kiryu stubbornly, consistently, speaks in selfish, righteous, absolutes. It’s one of my favorite things about him. He runs. He runs because he thinks people are better off without him but he cant help but involve himself. constantly. Because he loves his family. Daigo is the character that has to fix kiryus mistakes and the mistakes of those who came before and after him. Kiryu constantly weighs the Tojo clan over his head because he loves daigo, because he entrusts the clan into daigos hands and forces daigo to carry that burden. I think that scene is so perfectly in line with both of them. I would love to see daigos involvement in more games, i really would. It almost feels like they’re baiting it out especially with pirate yakuzas ending. I LOVE DAIGO DOJIMA!!
