the biggest problem I have with this guy is the absolute distain he has for the fandom and its community. especially bc of his work in a project which is meant to be a serious rewrite, he gives off the vibe of like. a person who claims to hate romcoms so he spends all this time making a BETTER romcom that he claims will avoid all the shitty tropes and plot holes romcoms tend to have. but bc he doesn't actually engage with the material meaningfully he will never actually produce something valuable.

Creepypasta at its core are a bunch of campfire stories. they are cheap slasher movies retold by your friend on the bus ride home. the movie scene that terrified you as a kid and makes you laugh as an adult. It is your first edgy oc.

Creepypasta is silly, it's scary, it's fun. The fandom is community based, you get to decide what's canon or not. These stories are dumb! that's ok!! that's part of where our love comes for them.

Many of the most well known horror movies are also dumb. How does jigsaw afford to build all those traps? If Jason Voorhees died as a kid, then how did he come back as an adult? Why are killer klowns living in outer space?

it's ok to want more serious depictions of these characters. Many others in this fandom want that too! I love serious and gritty depictions, but that doesn't mean we can't get silly with it also. it's fundamental to creepypasta.

I have problems with this as an also-mentally-ill Creepypasta creator.

I understand being peeved about inaccurate portrayals of a disability/illness. But this is: 1, assuming that Jeff even has diagnosed or undiagnosed mental illness (not a canon thing, and even if it was, this is the Ignore Canon fandom), 2, assuming that all characters with ASPD or other neurodivergencies/illnesses that cause "a broken mind" are going to or SHOULD act like super mega murder edgelords all the time, which is ridiculous and unrealistic, and 3, being a fucking asshole to people who may ALSO have ASPD/"broken minds" and who portray the character differently than you for highly personal reasons. Did you ask every one of those 'arrogant cunts' about their mental health history? I hope not.

If anyone listened to this advice, at the very least, characters with mental illness and "broken minds" would be written a lot less realistically. You'd be sucking all of the potential for very diverse personalities and presentations of disability out of your storytelling in favor of the "One True Way" to portray X or Y illness.

But that's not the real problem, because the real problem is that there are still losers in this fandom who think this way. Who think their own character and literary interpretations are richer and more valuable than the interpretations of others. That's not true. Interpretation is not only an important part of how our society consumes art - it IS art in and of itself. To say that there's a 'right' way to do art at all is a horrible opinion that will only detract from your artistic journey, and, in cases like these, will make you really miserable to be around in artistic spaces.

Come on, guys. Do better.

listen, no one's pretending Jeff’s story is good, there's a reason why so many rewrites exist.

PERSONALLY, I find it arrogant to assume that no one else in this fandom deals with any sort of mental illness or disorder, and apply their experiences or research when writing for these characters.

I also think it's shitty to assume the only people who like Jeff are either pedophiles or want to "fuck school shooters" instead of realizing the actual reason why a lot of people find comfort in creepypasta characters in the first place.

These are characters that go through a lot of trauma, deal with many terrible feelings and emotions, and become monsters. It's easy to relate to the traumatic situations, the fear of becoming monstrous, or even live vicariously through the characters getting revenge on the people who hurt them the most.

Like, I'm sorry people wish Jeff would heal from his traumas, get help for his illness, find friends and reconnect with family, and become a better person?? Do you think maybe there's a reason why people might want that wish fulfillment???

You have completely misunderstood Jeff the Killer as a character and his appeal. You have mischaracterized an entire part of the fandom. You have ignored they many wonderful, nuanced, and complicated versions of Jeff the killer that people have made.

I am dissapointed by you.
