Toronto Roller Derby will hold their annual Pride Bout, called the Clam Slam (this year dubbed the “Uhaul Brawl”), this THURSDAY JUNE 25. Get your backside trackside to watch the queer skaters of T.O. and surrounding areas kick some derby ass.

Another brilliant ECDX poster, from the East Coast Derby Extravaganza that just passed this weekend (June 19-21, 2015). This artist, who does the ECDX posters, is my absolute favourite. S/he always makes the skater look like a superhero... but the main difference is that in this rendition our heroine is fully clothed. Once she puts on a helmet and regulation set of wrist guards, she will score all the points and steal all the hearts.

Check out this amazing poster by the London Rollergirls in the UK for their upcoming invitational bout, April 13 - 14. Toronto Roller Derby's CN Power will be representing for #Toronto. The image just so perfectly captures the power, perfection, and demi-god status of roller derby athletes who play at this level. Never has the combination of pink and neon white lights looked so monumental. Extra style points for the double union jack, from the jersey to the background.

Backwards Blocking is the Theme of the Week

Denver has a few of the best defensive skaters out there in roller derby. Shaina Serelson is one of them. Some people are intimidated because of her size and power, but the scariest thing about her, to me, is her footwork and ability to judge a jammer’s path before she takes it. She can sometimes be downright spooky about it, letting the jammer tire herself out and smashing her to the ground once she’s committed to a lane.

And her backwards blocking…

Devastating.
