The zone (Roadside Picnic) wasn't based on Chernobyl; the book came out in 1971, way before the accident (Chernobyl) happened somewhere in 1980. I know a lot about it haha; like I said, my dad worked there, so I know that it wasn't really based. My mom's family also happens to know the Arthurs of the book (they also happen to know her well and my dad). I have the old book that came in the 70’s out from my mom as a late birthday gift before she died.

You know in Chernobyl if you sneak into the zone you're considered a stalker? My dad used to do that. I know you could get in trouble for it, sure, but fuck it.
