don't rule it out [emmerdale. mackenzie/robert. ~3k]
Mack blames John. Which could be said about a lot of things, but is definitely true of this. [Or: Mack gets a divorce and falls in love. Probably in that order.]
@AO3
a/n: look. look. sometimes you just need to set an otp aside for a moment to imagine your fave making out with a hot, scottish man, ok? feat. background charity/vanessa. thanks to @capseycartwright, @vckaarob, and @thisissirius for enabling me ♥︎

Personally love the idea of the fake truce because it just means john will be so much madder if we actually get affair 2.0.

my favorite thing about navigating fanfiction is finding a really good one and being all “oh boy this was good, I hope they have more!” and literally every other story they’ve ever written was for like Miami Vice

Not to call aaron a liar but someone who is over their ex and doesnt care what hes doin probably wouldn't call them moving on tragic and then flee the scene immediately, but what do i know

Weak. Weak!!! What sort of American soap watcher cant handle manslaughter. 😭 us soaps literally have people fall in love with people's alters and have affairs cuz they thought their wife cheated but really a man was making out with his sex doll that he dressed up like that man's wife. People also never stay dead. Like ever. Cowards.
My favourite genre of tweet right now is Americans finding out about British soaps through Robron

people who argue about aaron and robert and which one is Right and which one is Wrong are so funny to me 😭 they're both stupid and terrible and wrong and also they are both right and have done nothing wrong ever in their lives. hope that helps clear things up ❤️

Not to reblog myself but this also isn't a knock on Aaron. Aaron is a survivor, always has been, always will be.
But he didnt get a choice this last time around because it was made for him, it stripped his agency in his own happiness, and he was left to pick up the pieces of his heart, soul, and life.
So this wasnt about settling for Aaron it was about moving on. It was about finding happiness again. It was about learning to survive yet again. Its why hes too scared now to jump back in. Its why hes angry still. His life was ripped away without any say from him and now here's Robert ready to fix things but Aaron still has years of survival to reconcile, hes not ready to just jump back in.
He proved to himself he could live without Robert when push came to shove but now hes confused and angry because how dare Robert drop a bomb in the life he cobbled together in that destructive wake. Its spite, its anger, but most of all its hurt.
Robert hurt him, Robert hurt him so deeply. Hes got to forgive before he can even consider throwing himself back into the love they have for each other.
Its so similar to the vday to reunion build. We all know Aaron can get there, hes just gotta wade through all the pain and see the other side first. Its gotta be his choice, not Roberts.
Personally a very big fan of the concept of Robert knowing he could pull anyone he wanted and that objectively he still enjoys that but knowing that none of them, male or female, compare to how he feels about and how aaron makes him feel.
Robert knowing he could kiss or fuck half the world's population and it wouldn't have 1% of the spark he and Aaron have and knowing that's what he wants, that's the end all be all for him.
Knowing that he could have something, maybe even has something briefly, but ultimately never wanting to settle for less than his soulmate when it comes down to it.
He knows theres other options, he's had them, he can have more of them. Yes he could love someone, probably, conceptually, but none of them hit like Aaron and Aaron is who he wants.
Good stuff.

Omg I remember that Holly moment. He literally couldn't interreact with a woman back then without fear of him cheating. It was exhausting.
lucky was literally killing people and they really thought robbo was about to start a random affair while trying to find rebecca, catch out lucky, and not get himself murdered it was insane lmaooo

It's hilarious though that John is simultaneously going on and on about how much Aaron loves him and screaming how doomed his marriage is if Robert stays in the village. Mind you he's yet to actually see Aaron have any genuine interaction with Robert. He has no real idea what he's up against. And he's already cracking.

This might be controversial but I actually love how they’re playing this with Aaron at the moment.
I can’t decide whether it’s Danny’s acting doing the heavy lifting here, but even with Aaron continuing to be cold and distant, that unconditional love for Robert always finds its way through in little moments and gestures. His words may say one thing but his eyes and microexpressions tell a completely different story. It’s subtle enough not to give himself away, but noticeable enough for us to know exactly what he’s really feeling underneath the pretence.
That makes it all the more satisfying when his walls do come down for a moment, the genuine concern and care seeping through – and all the more interesting to visibly see him put them back up again when Robert tries to get too close.
And then we have Aaron’s go-to defence against Robert by telling him he needs to leave the village, that it’s not his home anymore and he shouldn’t be there. It’s harsh and it’s hurtful, but understandable in the context of their prison conversation, where Aaron begged Robert to stay away, knowing full well that they’d start something if he didn’t.
He’s pushing Robert away, saying whatever he can to create some distance, because the alternative is giving in and letting himself love the one person he’s been trying (and failing) to move on from for the past six years.
But the cracks are already beginning to show and it’s only a matter of time before Aaron gets tired of pretending. He always does.

Can not stress enough that's its genuinely very fine to not want to see your ship with other ppl. That is not the problem/a problem period. Just sometimes fandom isn't aware of the language that's being used but tbh its all light and just discussion for discussion sake. Im too tired to argue most days gjejfjf
