What are you grateful for today? Gratitude is one of the most important things we can do for our wellbeing. It gets us in the habit of paying attention to the things that are going well in our lives and helps us to experience positive emotions.⁣

Gratitude has many healing properties. It helps us to have more positive experiences, improves our overall health, allows us to handle adversity better and gives us the clarity to be able to build deeper relationships with others.⁣

Specifically in the last decade, psychologists have found that people who live their life in gratitude are overall healthier and happier. ⁣

Grateful people tend to report feeling healthier than others because grateful people are more likely to take care of their physical health.⁣

Gratitude also improves psychological health by reducing toxic emotions, ranging from envy and resentment to frustration and regret. ⁣

Robert A. Emmons, Ph.D., has conducted multiple studies on the link between gratitude and wellbeing and has confirmed that gratitude effectively increases happiness and decreases depression.⁣

Acknowledging and expressing gratitude does not have to be difficult. It can be a moment where you pause and acknowledge your blessings. It can simply be a habit of sitting down and writing things out. It can be expressed verbally through a prayer or communication with others. ⁣

It was over eight years ago, my wife and I were sitting in a Mimi’s Cafe in Sandy, Utah having lunch when we got the call that our daughter’s expectant mother was going into labor. I still remember that moment vividly. ⁣⁣

We quickly finished our meal, rushed to the hospital and maneuvered our way through the maternity halls until we reached the room that our child’s birth parents were in. ⁣Wow, so many emotions!⁣

The moment my daughter was placed in my arms was the most incredible feeling. I will never forget how sweet and precious she was. The day she entered this world was one of the best days of my life. ⁣⁣

Jacquie is growing up to be an extraordinary young lady who’s talented, smart and funny. I am honored to be her dad. I love you Jac. ❤️ Robert

Today is my wife’s and my 10 year anniversary! 💍 With any marriage, we’ve had our ups and downs but through everything I love her just as much as when this photo was taken. ⁣

Together we have two beautiful children. We are so lucky to have her in our lives! She’s smart, beautiful, funny, loving and determined! She is the glue that holds our family together. ⁣

A few days ago, I posted about the importance of the company you keep. The people you surround yourself with affect the way you think, feel and behave. Engaging with people who engage in negative behavior takes a toll on your mental health. Establishing positive emotional and physical boundaries with others are key. ⁣

“Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.” —Dalai Lama⁣

You should know that everything is not ALL your fault. Perception shapes our reality. We can’t always prevent negative things from happening but we should at least view them from a healthy lens. The people I admire the most have built strong mental muscle and take accountability in their lives. ⁣

We need to recognize that we are responsible for our choices while acknowledging that there are factors beyond our control. Focus on what you can control. (Serenity prayer anyone?)⁣

Inner peace comes from knowing your beliefs and acting accordingly. ✌🏼 Forgive others. Be loving. Dream BIG. Actively work towards your goals. Progress not perfection. Allow willingness to be apart of your life. Let God in. ⁣

After attending many Tony Robbins events, I asked myself if I looked up to the people I was surrounding myself with. I genuinely try to keep everyone in my life who I admire and respect. This can range from their accomplishments to the way they live their life and love others. ⁣

The truth is if you were to take an honest look at the people you surround yourself with and self reflect upon who you are today, chances are you will find you are the sum of your entire circle. Choose wisely. Live your life to make others better. 👊🏼 Robert
