He shifted a bit self-consciously. Standing out was not something he’d liked to do. He supposed it was an after effect of his... earlier life experience.

Her enthusiasm at robotics draws him a bit out of his nervous shell. This was a topic he was always ready to comfortably touch on. He gave a slight smile to the odd pink figure. “Oh, really now? What was the robot for, if I may ask?” He engages her in the way he would his young nieces and nephews. 

That was always much easier than dealing with older people, there was more defined rules and they didn’t mind if he seemed a bit odd. He supposes this wouldn’t be the worst. “I’ve made some robots myself. I wrote the numbers that made them work. They were very very large.”

Unikitty. Unikingdom. He should have figured. “Ah, well... I don’t seem to be from anywhere around here, and to be entirely honest, I’m not sure how I even got here.”

“I suppose I…am a bit obvious.” With one quick glance at himself, he can definitely see a vast difference between himself and the areas usual residence. Even if his sub-par social skills had somehow withheld to some standard, his… everything else gave him away with ease.

“I…do I suppose. Maybe not precisely the…same as ‘Dr. Fox’ but I am a scientist. Specialized, I’m a physicist and a mathematician primarily.” Noting the others rather… childish wonderment and mannerisms, he simplifies his vernacular. “I do math, codes, some have been used to make robots. I’m also good at finding things with numbers and figuring out if things could happen.”

“I appreciate it. I do have…quite a few. The first should probably be…where, is this?”

“Uh-huh, uh-huh!!” She did think he looked kinda odd, which is why it was so easy to spot him! He didn’t look like someone from Frowntown, either..

She stares at him emptily with the words ‘physicist’ and ‘mathematician’. Yeah, she didn’t really get what that meant at all. She does appreciate the simplification, and seems to light up even more at the mention of robots. “Robots??!! We had a robot one time!!!! But that was a while ago, and we had to destroy it..” She seems sad for all of three seconds, before rebounding right back to overwhelming excitement.

“Well, this is Uuuuunikingdom, if you travelllll,” she gestures several ways, “thataways, you’ll go to Frowntown! Oh! And if you go North, you can go to the North Pole!” She’s getting off track. “But this here is my kingdom!! And thaaat’s my castle!!” She gestures to the castle shaped like her.

He must say… He’d almost expected worse, or nothing at all, but this was a welcome surprise. It’s contents were odd and confusing, yet, fascinating all the same from the perspective of being otherworldly. He’d certainly study this in detail.

A small smile comes to his face at the boxes ornate wrapping, and only grows as he carefully opens the the paper. He can definitely feel his heart well, and the strange feeling is rather…welcome. 

“Thank you Newton, it’s perfect…” The words are followed soon after by a brief, soft kiss to the others cheek.

“Ah… Thank…you?” He hesitantly holds the chip as if it were contaminated with some sort of deadly virus and smiles very tersely before placing it aside with care.

The mathematician just about jumped out of his skin at the sudden voice, and barely managed catching himself so as not to have tumbled and made a total fool of himself in front of this….? Cat? Unicorn? Block? Creature thing? Ok, he was just about certain he’d lost it. How else does one explain this? 

“Ah, uhm, yes, hello. I… I’m not quite from here, exactly.” He stumbled over words as he spoke, fighting with himself mentally over the futility of talking to this probable figment of his imagination and getting some kind of answers as to what’s going on. Besides, it wouldn’t be exactly polite to ignore the girl that seemed… a bit enthused? To see him. 

“I’m… Doctor Hermann Gottlieb… your… majesty?” Most of what he says sounds uncertain, and his hand shake is rather awkward as he’s not sure how to approach the block-y appendage. 

“I can tell!” Several obvious things about this guy..really let her know he wasn’t from around here. But that’s okay! She could totally help out with this! It was like..sort of like part of her job, she guesses.

“Oh! A doctor!!! Do you do fun sciency stuff like Dr. Fox too??” Well..probably, right? She doesn’t seem to notice how awkward this handshake is, or she just doesn’t care. She’s practically beaming, it’s not like they get weird visitors like this all that often!

“If you got any questions, I can answer them! Uhm..most of them? Maybe all of them! I guess it depends on the question!” Whatever she couldn’t answer, she’s sure Richard could, if they ran into him at any point.

“I’d like nothing more. We still have a bit to figure it out.” It was but a moment before he yet again couldn’t resist a small smile, as he was overwhelmed with absolute relief and positive emotions. It’d been much too long.  He risked a slight kiss to the others cheek in affectionate retaliation to the others previous sudden action. 

“You know, you could do for a shave.” He couldn’t help to joke after, slightly snorting at his own comment. “Though, I can’t say this isn’t a good look for you, despite it being the...well, typical.”

Hermann flushed slightly at the kiss, not adjusted to such affections whatsoever, but certainly not quite minding. With his free hand, he slightly covered his face without a thought to it. “I would hate to just…uproot you in accordance to my plans. I want to know your thoughts on it before we set any decisions, after all this is a big step we should make together.”

A warm fuzzy feeling filled Newt. He and Hermann would be making this big step together. “We should look over some places. I’m sure tons of schools would love to have the both of us, we should look into those for sure.”

Ah, then he would certainly suit your needs and keep you well enough company. That is rather interesting. What is he, if you would like to share?

That is fair, we strive to try to understand ourselves even, but haven’t quite gotten to doing so yet. Our behaviors, we thrive to think are advanced, but at our very base level, we’re animals, just with what we consider more development. I don’t quite understand others of my own species a majority of the time.

Well, that must be rather nice, low maintenance pets can be excellent. I would consider especially so for you, as I’m to believe you run your own business? A pet with more care specifications probably would not work for such a busy schedule.

Some do, but not forever and entirely. Even humans that like being alone have friends, family, lest their mental health will deteriorate, because in our bare basics we are a social species and require a certain level of interaction to function and maintain our health.

I do run my own business, yes. Not sure I can imagine myself with any other pet besides Death, though. He was, quite literally, made for me.

Humans are weird and disgusting and this only continues to prove me right. I’ve been around for a long time, and I still don’t understand any of what you all do.

It’s quite alright, that curiosity is very understandable. Drifting must sound rather odd and a bit confusing for a place that hasn’t had it so common place. Even with a previous knowledge, some feat such as that one must set of some alarm or at least some inquiry. 

Yes, it’s a fascinating process, scientifically and otherwise.

Yes, it’s…possible, but not recommended and not easy. It’s a time I don’t strive to remember, although drifting with Newton was no concern. 

I understand what you mean, I think, and I would say it is like that in a way. If you don’t notice through a ‘feeling’, the way you interact will affirm it.
