Zoey and Mira don't talk to their families, and Rumi only has Celine. I think that's on purpose. I think the Honmoon thinks it's doing its hunters a favor. It purposefully chooses girls with bad home lives so it can go:

"Hey, it's actually okay that your family doesn't talk to you. Now you don't have to lie to them about this responsibility I've thrust upon you."

So with this hypothesis, it makes sense that Celine raised Rumi like that, she probably has no idea what a good parent looks like.

I don't like the Sun/Moon anime. Not because it's particularly bad or anything, but because I grew up on the Black/White anime and watched through to the end of XYZ. So the personality shift from definitely a teenager Ash in XYZ to definitely a 10-year-old Ash in Sun/Moon was simply too much for me to get behind.

Neither Four nor Twilight actually cast shadows on normal days. Four's Shadow died, so there's that. And for Twilight, in TP Midna takes over his shadow, and in game you can see that he doesn't have one when she shows up, leading me to believe that when she left, she didn't give Twi his shadow back.

I firmly believe that Rumi's demon heritage did not only give her patterns outside her transformations. So I give you this set of interactions:

breakfast, the first day after Huntr/x meets

Zoey: (bursts into the kitchen) HIIII!!!!!

Rumi: (bites through her spoon) crap, not again

Mira: girl you good?

Zoey: AGAIN???

Rumi: it's fine don't worry

after Celine explains the whole demon thing

Zoey: (hands Rumi a metal spoon) hey bite this

Rumi: Okay?? (bites through spoon)

Zoey: sooo, you're like a demon, right? or like, half-demon?

Rumi: ???????

Mira: humans can't bite through metal spoons like that

Rumi: oh
