What a lovely day.

I created this artwork to complete my fanfiction story, Feels Like Hope. I’m excited having finished it, but also reeling from finishing this literal chapter in my life!

Title: Feels Like Hope

Characters: Nux / Capable, Rig family

Genre: Drama

Synopsis: While the Citadel revels in its first night free of tyranny, Capable leaves its safety to make a perilous journey alone across the Wasteland. Her purpose is simple: retrieve Nux’s remains or die trying. When she finds not a body, but hope, clinging desperately to his last thread of life, Capable’s future is unexpectedly filled with new promise… and unforeseen consequences.

This was my first work over 100,000 words, so I’m thrilled to have kept it up and finished it. The painting is a tribute to my beta reader, who gave so much of their time to guide me and help me grow as a writer. Pandravis is the kingdom's Master of Coin, who oversees taxes, banks and finances. A glittering, cunning politician, whose family got rich from mining subterranean gems and selling them to Overworld. Even right now she has control over most of Hel's gemstone trade and pleasure districts. She is one of the many people in the Hellian nobility who high adviser Friftar is scheming to gain control over. Too bad that while Pandravis is not as nearly as powerful, she's a stubborn and ambitious lady who's got money and resources to spare :DD While she is an opportunist who cares more about her own success than actually serving the crown, she is loyal to General Ticktock (who is mentioned to have spies in the book too, something i find interesting!)

Friftar beefs with her when maybe actually he should be taking into consideration her husband, the alchemist who is going to Create the Fuckyourhopesanddreams Virus

Also her teenage daughter Larir, a soft lil girl stuck in a subterranean kingdom full of corruption, and who just wants to study mushrooms and bugs. She was one of the only buddies Ukobach had at school, and she even was sweet to Ribesehl, thinking the Homunculus was brave for saving her friend. (Gee i wonder why she is no longer around during the events of Rumo. I sure hope nothing happened 😀😀😀😀👍👍)

Sometimes people get their start in fandom with something like, idk, the MCU or light action shows like Supernatural or children's fantasy like Warriors (this last example said with love), where the writing is an inconsistent mess, characterization can change on a dime, there's no themes stronger than like "family" or "stop the bad guy from changing our way of life". And their fandom experience is taking the hints of interesting ideas presented and dropped and spinning them into something interesting, or just fluffy and fun, and then discarding the rest.

And then these people come to a piece of art that like. Actually has themes and good writing and a coherent vision, but they're still trained on The Giant Trash Heap That Must Be Sorted Through, so they start their routine of excising fun yaoi moments and throwing the rest in the trash, except now the rest is like. A professionally made passion project by a group of skilled writers with a hundred years writing experience between them, and this fan is writing the same coffee shop AUs as ever. And it makes something that feels same-y and fandom out of something unique and well-made and, well, interesting.

And like. That's their prerogative, more power to them, but it makes me wanna pull my hair out to talk to these people about a piece of media I actually care about beyond that Trash Heap level.

And if you're someone whose only fandom experience has been Trash Sorting and you're running into people arguing with you abt their favorite piece of media, give them a second thought I guess?
