tristan-philips:
She calmed somewhat under his touch, though he figured it was perhaps mostly his words doing the trick, and he remained with the ghost of a smile as she apologised. It had been some years, and while he had not aged a day, she had grown somewhat older. It had always been like that, watching those around him age, come into their youth and beauty, or grow old and whither, while he remained the same. Human life was fragile. Although Human she was not.
“Hectic how?” he asked her, studying all the features of her face as carefully as he would study anything else that was of importance to him. His eyes narrowed somewhat when she said weird things had been going on, but it was just the smallest of changes to him, he had already been made aware of said weirdness. “I am here on a case,” he admitted. A personal case, but a case all the same. “I am not, would you need help with that?” he questioned.
Rosemary shrugged, hand reaching up to run through her hair as she answered Tristan, “Hectic like working full time and midterms for school being in full swing.” She hesitated for a moment, before adding, her voice quieter than it had been, “And I’ve been trying to figure out if what’s going on in town is, well, related to me?” Answers to that were hard to come by, and she wasn’t sure if she’d recognize the truth if she found it.
“What kind of case? Can you tell me about it? Or is it top secret?” she asked, bouncing slightly on the balls of her feet, a new surge of excitement coursing through her. “Not help, but company is always nice,” Ro said brightly, tugging on Tristan’s arm as she started walking towards her place. “We can catch up over dinner that way, too.”

tristan-philips:
No matter how often Thiebaut came to the small village in Iceland, Grindavik would never exactly feel like a place he could call home. Perhaps because he had been putting high expectations on the town for the past fifty years, to bring their sibling back to them. Perhaps because over the years, he had tried to stay as far away from the locals as possible. Though there were exceptions.
One of those exceptions had called out his name, or at least the one he currently used, and wrapped her arms around him. He couldn’t help the smile, no matter how tiny it was. “Hello Rosemary,” he said kindly. Despite the years, the heartache, the loss, the grief, it was just too easy to connect to others. “Calm down, one question at the time,” he said, one hand resting on her shoulder. “I am good, how are you?”
Rosemary didn’t bother to hide the sheepish smile their response pulled onto her lips, and she didn’t even consider trying to tamp down on the excitement buzzing under her skin. It had been a few years since she met Tristan on his last visit to town, and she had been hoping he’d be back soon.
“Sorry,” she apologized, grin still tugging at her lips. “I’m just glad to see you! And I’m good! Things have been a little hectic lately, but I’m doing well,” Ro paused, looking at them for a moment. “Wait, did you come because things have been weird lately?” she asked, lowering her voice and eyes darting around. “Because Tristan, something’s going on, I promise you!” Before she could further elaborate, her stomach let out a soft rumble, reminding her that lunch had been a few hours ago. “Are you busy right now?” she asked, tilting her head to the side. “I was just heading home to make some dinner, if you wanted to join me,” she offered warmly.

Ro felt a little embarrassed, the way she always did when she wandered into Spellbound or ran into Aggie around town. She didn’t mean to go out of her way to spend time with the other girl, except that’s how it always seemed to end up. It wasn’t like they were particularly close-the childhood infatuation Ro had decidedly never acted upon had prevented her from really befriending Aggie-but Ro seemed to always find some excuse to have their paths cross. This time, it was school. Ro slipped a book she needed for class onto the counter, smiling brightly at Aggie as she offered a greeting. “Has it been busy today?” she asked, desperate to make some kind of small talk, have some excuse to linger, just a few minutes longer.

Rosemary was borderline skipping through the group of people gathered at the community barbecue, stopping almost every other person to chat and catch up with the other residents of the town. The weather was nice, the company was even better, and she couldn’t help but feel content as she wandered over to the grill.
“Oh, I don’t know!” Ro said, a little flustered at all the options. “They all sound so good-and I’m sure they all taste great, too! Just surprise me,” she finally settled on, sure she’d enjoy any of the options available. “I like your hat, by the way! I think it really makes the look, very professional,” she added brightly, her words earnest as she smiled at him.

thankfully, the sun actually stayed out today. lately the weather had been all messed up, but it stayed steady this day, the best of all days. the day that taewoo had planned for a few weeks now. community bbq day. he was prepared too! he had forced some friends to help him move his grilling equipment to the town square, and he stood in front of the fire that was burning on the coals, clapping his tongs as he waited for the bratwursts and burgers to finish cooking up.
he was clad in his traditional grilling attire: a barely hidden graphic tee that was covered by a pink, frilly apron that said ‘kiss the cook’ on it in cursive lettering, a pair of shorts that went just above his knees, socks that went to his mid-calf, and sandals. he even had a little chef hat atop his head. he felt professional. he was professional. this was his grill, and these were his people he was feeding.
sensing movement close to him, he turned and clapped his tongs at the person semi-threateningly. “ayy, whatcha want? burger? bratwurst? chicken? you want it, i got it, bud.”

open @hallowsevestarters // sidewalk outside of the ice cream parlour
It was maybe a little brisk outside in the autumn air to be offering up free samples of ice cream, but Ro couldn’t find it in herself to mind. She liked the increased interactions, liked the fun seasonal flavors they were offering, and liked the way the sun was warm on the back of her neck as she worked. Rosemary called out to a passerby, “Would you care for a free sample? We have apple cider cardamom or pecan pie out today!”

closed to @tristan-philips // town square
Rosemary couldn’t help the small skip in her step as she walked through the town square-she was tired, closer to exhausted after working a long shift and her night class the day before, but the weather was nice and she had plans she was excited for tomorrow, so she couldn’t help but be in high spirits. Humming to herself, she meandered through town on her way home, pausing only when she spotted a familiar figure in the distance. “Tristan?” she called out, unable to hide the excitement in her voice. She laughed, rushing forward when she confirmed it was him. Ro didn’t think anything of wrapping her arms around Tristan in greeting, squeezing him firmly before stepping back. “I didn’t know you were in town!” she said brightly, rocking back on her heels. “How are you? Are you here for long? What have you been up to?” Ro rambled off the series of questions without pausing, stopping only once she got them all out to breathe, looking at Tristan expectantly.

Ro frowned, properly chastened by the words spoken to her. She didn’t mean to stare, and she said as much. “I am sorry, though,” she added, hoping her genuine remorse was clear in her voice. She glanced down at her own drink, taking a moment to think of what to say. Her friends had already left, and she had been planning on closing her tab and doing the same, but she had been staring for a reason. “I just...” she trailed off, not sure how to tell someone they looked sad. “I guess I was just trying to figure out if you wanted some company,” she settled on finally, offering the woman a smile. “If you’d prefer to be alone, I’ll let you be, though.”

BRYGGJAN FELT LIKE A SAFE PLACE to reside for the night. pulling a stool at the very end of the bar and draping her coat on the seat next to her, elínora sat herself down with a low sigh. it’d been ages since noora felt a headache as strong as the one she was feeling now; it usually followed along with the hunger - and the vampire hadn’t fed for a while. as she ordered herself a drink - a whiskey on the rocks - noora thanked the bartender and quietly pulled out a flask. watching with delicate intent and shaky fingers, the femme swiftly shoved the expensive flask back into her coat’s pocket and took a long sip of the mixed dreak. noora felt the presence of another set of eyes resting against her silhouette as she took another sip, a tug of her blood-stained lips allowed the soft sound of a dryly amused scoff escape. “ i don’t know if anyone’s taught you but it’s rude to stare at others, especially when they’re trying to enjoy their time alone. ” @hallowsevestarters

Rosemary couldn’t help but laugh, the giggles bursting through her lips as spins a little on her heel to stop from running into Moh, dancing around him as he stops to yell. he isn’t wrong, is the thing. Grindavik has gotten only odder recently, and Ro wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. She couldn’t help but wonder if the weirdness was somehow linked to her own weirdness. Maybe now she could finally get some answers. “Aliens are your best guess, really?” she said with a snort, face scrunching up in amusement. “I feel like that’s such a boring explanations. Maybe it’s witches,” she smiled as she spoke, well aware of the absurdity of her words. “Moh!” she exclaimed, tugging at his arm and pulling him away from Barbara’s home, “You can’t, that’s not nice!” she protested, trying to move him along.
moh stops mid-walk, blocking the pathway and just sighs heavily. he tips his head back and decides to let his thoughts on the current grindavik weirdness be known. “you’re all being weird! and the newbies- weird! and the electricity also weird! and the storm and kevin- all weird! now who’s gunna step up and admit we’ve been invaded by aliens and they haven’t taken me yet cause they’re too in awe over my hair?!” maybe yelling this all into the night air wasn’t a good idea as two dogs start barking and an old woman yells out her window at him. “don’t yell at me, barbara! i know that famous lasagna of yours is bought at the grocery store! try me bitch!” @hallowsevestarters

[ nicole maines, 24, trans woman, she/her ] i think i just saw ROSEMARY “RO” DOUGLAS walking by, rumor has it they’re a FAE (SELKIE), but only time will tell. when RO is not busy wrecking havoc around town, they’re working as an EMPLOYEE AT THE ICE CREAM SHOP. on their good days, i hear they can be WHIMSICAL AND WARM, but on their bad days, some say they have a tendency to be NAIVE AND SHORT SIGHTED, best to be careful.
tldr at the end of the bio as well as some wanted connections !
you were always a bit more upbeat in how you chose to view the world. because that’s what it was: a choice. one that you made every day since you were too young to realize that the world would be nothing but cruel to you. things might have been different, had you been a different person with a different disposition, but you wanted to make the best of whatever was thrown your way.
your parents might not have wanted you, might have wanted who you turned out to be even less, but you had your sibling [wanted], someone who saw you for you and never hesitated to let you tag along, following dutifully behind them with a never ending stream of questions.
the thing is, is that you never realized that your childhood wasn’t the norm. not at first, at least, not until you were old enough to make your own friends in school and not just be trailing after the kids in your neighborhood. you were nine, maybe ten, at your first birthday party for a classmate, and you remember walking into his house-spacious and clean and filled with light-and meeting his parents-happily married and laughter spilling over paper cups and affectionate ruffling of their son’s hair-and not understanding what was happening. you didn’t know a family could be like this, not for real, not outside of tv, and you were suddenly filled with a longing you didn’t understand, not back then.
later, you would realize that you wanted a family. people who were there for you no matter what and cared for you with no strings attached, a foreign concept to you even then. but back then, it just gave you something to wish for.
you had your sibling, and you could pretend that the two of you were the only ones there, usually. your parents didn’t matter, and maybe you could have been more jaded because of their distaste for their own children, but you were too old when you learned that things could be different to really challenge the status quo
you settled for what you had and dreamt of a day you’d get more than that. your sibling was enough, always supporting you, having your back, even when things got exceedingly more complicated when you grew older.
you finished school and moved out of your parents and you got a job at the ice cream shop. it wasn’t high paying and it was long days on your feet but you liked interacting with people every day, the small chit chat made over your limited interactions. you could pretend they were anyone, anything to you, and it was of no consequence. you enrolled in school, eventually, taking a class or two every semester and working full time, knowing full well that you couldn’t afford anything more than that, and you also couldn’t justify cutting any hours from your work week.
you were tired, but you made a home for yourself, however small or lonely it might have been. you were content with that, happy with what you had, but your heart was a big one. you always had room for more.
and things are different now - you had always known there was something different about you, that you could do things that others couldn’t. your parents were shifty when you tried to bring it up, and you’re not certain of the details, but things have been weird around town lately. something’s changed, and you think you might finally be able to get some answers, if only you can figure out who to ask.
tldr
Ro is a 24 year old part time student full time ice cream shop employee who had a rough go of it growing up and just wants to make a home for herself. She’s a selkie, but all she knows is that she’s different, somehow, and that she might finally be able to get some answers with how weird the town’s gotten.
She’s trusting to a fault and has the biggest heart of anyone you’ll ever meet, but she’s easily fooled and even more easily hurt.
wanted connections:
sibling: whether there’s no actual relation or if the sibling is also a selkie, that’s super chill with me! but this is just someone who’s a few years older than Ro who saw her softness as something to protect, and has done that for their entire lives. Their the most important person in her life, and she loves them more than anything
childhood crush: ro’s the type to fall in love easily, so maybe this is someone she knew as a kid or a teenager and it was puppy love, at least on her part. how the dynamic is now isn’t set in stone-maybe they became friends, maybe she’s embarrassed by how into them she was, maybe they don’t even know who she is!
former friend: the two of them were close, so close, but something changed that. I’m happy to play it as ro being heartbroken over it and missing them, or her being the one who’s standing her ground. she’s too trusting and forgiving, but even she has her limits
frenemy, of sorts: someone ro would call her friend but who just wants to use her/thinks she’s easily tricked and wants to take advantage of that/etc
love life: i’m down for exes and current interests, she’s soft with a big heart
