Just a quick analysis:

When we get the flashback of Keith outside of the garrison office after the fight scene we get this dialogue:

It’s interesting because Keith isn’t inherently referring to his home (as in “you can just take me back home already” suspension) he referres to it as THE home, as in “you can just take me back to the orphanage” because as we know Texas (that’s what I’m calling Keith’s dad) died, Krolia left and Keith had no one else to take care of him.

Child protective services might have showed up at Keith’s home and might have taken him (if he didn’t decided to do it himself) to an orphanage where he might have met Shiro.

Now the next thing I want to address is this:

The context for me is unclear but I believe the woman is referring to Keith being within the garrison, I was a bit perplexed at the use of the word “vouch” though so I decided to search the meaning

Now it might be weird because it doesn’t seem to link within the meaning of the sentence but I believe the script writers were aming to use a synonym of the word and I believe what best goes with it are the synonyms: support, validate and stick up for.

I believe Shiro went into an orphanage saw Keith and thought “I want to support that kid and watch him grow, he has potential” so what was the next move?

Adopting him

Shiro adopted Keith and took him under his wing, he was the only father figure left to Keith after his father died and his mother left, that’s why Keith is so smitten towards Shiro, he is his sibling, not by blood but by law. And by heart.

With this I strongly believe broganes or dad Shiro is canon.

Here’s my problem with #WalkUpNotOut

The premise of #WalkUpNotOut is that if kids would just “walk up” to the bullied kids, the outsiders, and be nice to them, offer them a eat at lunch, be their friends, that this is somehow MORE effective at stopping future school shootings than gun control reform. 

The implication here is clear.

First of all, it is a “solution” that requires NOTHING from the adults in power. Which is a cop out. 

Secondly, it relies entirely on the myth that school shooters are bullied, sad outsiders who just couldn’t fit in at school, lashing out in desperation. 

But who gets bullied? Kids with disabilities. LGBT+ kids (or kids who are perceived as such.) Kids who are overweight. Kids of color, especially if they are a minority in the school.  (You know, kids who face discrimination and bigotry.) 

And who ends up shooting up schools? White, straight, conservative Christian boys. 

I’m a teacher. I see who gets bullied (and do my damned best to stop it.) I know who the bullies are (and do my damned best to intervene.) 

And it is DEEPLY unethical to imply that the victims of bullying are ticking time bombs, about to go off and shoot people, while the kids who harass and attack them are the ones who get shot. It turns these violent, angry white boys into the victims, and turns the ACTUAL VICTIMS of school shootings into the nasty mean bullies who had it coming, if only they had been nicer! 

This has been the most obvious, and the most egregious with the Austin Bomber. I have literally seen people pulling this #WalkUp crap about HIM. HE WAS HOME SCHOOLED. He was part of a Christian “survivalist” home school group, where they learned about weapons and dangerous chemicals. He made social media posts about gay people being “not natural” and how if women don’t want to have a baby, then they shouldn’t have sex. He targeted People of Color in Austin specifically with his first 3 bombs. This was not the quiet, bullied poor little baby getting revenge on the kids who tormented him. None of them are.

Im all for adults to be creatin their own safe space. I mean its good if you do that to stay away from kid but when you cross tag porn/incest/pedophillia/abuse right into the main tag then your not in a safe space anymore. If it's a kids show made for kids and you go posting porn in say the v0ltron tag then we have a problem. You are not in the safe space you claim to be in. You are in whats basically the public domain of the fandom, you are openly postin things harmful to kids in such a large area. The "dont like dont look/read" bullshit wont help.

If your gonna create your own safe space to do whatever it is you want to do? Fine. But God dont go saying "they came into my safe space unwarranted!!" When really you're postin untagged borderline porn. Just dont. Make a separate tag or something please just keep it out of the main tag where kids can end up finding something like sh3ith porn because they looked up v0ltron on google images

Big wins for the gays today and all

I think in light of Stephen Hawking passing, I would like to remind everyone that ALS is a horrible tragic disease. Watching my best friend suffer from it has no joke been the single worst miserable thing. Ever. ALS had it’s 15 minutes of fame after the ice bucket challenge but I would really really encourage people to still raise awareness towards ALS and donate if it’s within their means. Stephen Hawking surviving so long and being able to continue to even just interact with others is in thanks to equipment and resources many ALS patients just don’t have. If you really loved Stephen Hawking please consider donating to the ALS Association or participating in an ALS walk/fundraising event!
