ugh..
Shout out to Mr. Kreinbring who finally cleared up some issues that I was having with the amount of SECTIONS we’re supposed to have for each criticism. It just slightly make me less stressed out which is good but the whole writing part, I’m struggling with the whole getting my idea on paper in words others will understand. Man..

p&p reading log- part ocho
AWH OMG I'M DYING BINGLEY FINALLY PROPOSED!!!!!!  It’s about time he did, like dude you know that you love Jane why wouldn’t you just propose like jeez.
Okay idk if I said this before but I HATE LADY CATHERINE DE BOURGH. LIKE WHAT EVEN, JUST LET YOUR NEPHEW BE HAPPY. If he wants to marry Eliza then let him, you can’t make your NEPHEW marry your daughter, for many reasons. One he doesn’t love her and two that’s so just weird like what even, your nephew marrying your daughter like that’s just gross and plus your daughter is like 15, which is even weirder. The fact that you come to Eliza and tell her that she ca’t marry Darcy is more stupid and dumb like you don’t control Eliza, she’s her own women.
Go Elizabeth, yes tell that women that you will not listen to her by refusing Darcy when he proposes. Can she just leave already like what the heck.
But I love the part where Mr. Collins is the one who is informing Elizabeth of her engagement to Darcy before he has even proposed. Like that’s so funny!!
But awh Darcy finally proposes and Elizabeth is finally happy. This is such a cute book I love it so much. …. And they finally lived happily ever after but still have an annoying Lydia and Wickham at their house all the time to ask for money. Ugh…

p&p reading log- part siete
Honestly though just to start off with. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH LYDIA LIKE WTF!!!! Shes’s SO stupid, like does she not understand that her “husband” doesn’t actually love her in the way that she loves him. THE LOVE HERE IS ONLY ONE WAY AND IF ANYTHING LYDIA”S STUPIDITY JUST SHOWS THAT THAT SHE IS SO CLOSE MINDED AND REFUSES TO OPEN HER EYES AND LOOK AROUND  AND SEE WHERE THE HECK SHE IS. And the fact that she even goes up to her sister and is like “Ha look at me Jane step over I’m the married one and the ‘oldest’”. LIKE WHO EVEN SAYS THAT TO THEIR SISTER. I mean yeah I’m happy Lydia is married but the other thing SHE’S LIKE 16 LIKE WHAT EVEN???? But come on tho, Wickham isn’t even a good guy like she can do much better than him. The real question is, did she actually even take the time to get to know him?
But anyway, on the side of Eliza. She seems happy, she’s finally starting to regret her decision to say no to Darcy when he proposed. It’s even getting to the point where she is like hoping that he will propose again but tbh IDK if he would do that especially after the first time and all the drama that happened with that. But actually now that I think about it, I feel like Darcy will because apparently he paid all the money that Wickham had asked for in agreeing to marry Lydia and not elope. Even Mrs. Gardiner thinks so because in her letter she hints at he fact that Darcy does this because he loved Elizabeth and wants to try to win her over. THAT’S SO SWEET LIKE OMG I WISH A GUY WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT FOR ME THEN AGAIN NO ONE REALLY LIKES ME BUT WHATEVER. IF I GET MARRIED THAT’S THE TYPE OF MAN I WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE WITH, ONE THAT WILL BE KIND TO ME EVEN WHEN I’M NOT HAVING MY BEST DAY AND AM ACCIDENTALLY AM MEAN TO.
GOD I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!

p&p reading log- part seis
Things have seemed to normal out between all the characters. Even though there might be some tension between Darcy and Elizabeth because of their last encounter and the letter that he wrote to her about the truth. Eliza doesn’t really know how to react to the whole situation because she’s not really used to the attention that she is getting from him, at least from my point of view.
Honestly in my opinion, I believe that Jane and Eliza should really expose Wickham for the disgusting man he is because he doesn’t all the praise that people give him.
Lydia. is. eloping. with. Wickham. OH MY GOD. what even is going on anymore. This is the same who only marries for for money. But I don’t understand what he would want from Lydia, her family isn’t that rich. He has no money that he can benefit from. And its more weird because that he already tried his efforts with Eliza and he quickly turned away from her because she didn’t have any money. ELIZABETH AND LYDIA ARE SISTER’S THEY HAVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY (WHICH IS THEIR FATHER’S) AND IT’S THE SAME AMOUNT FOR 5 SISTER’S THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM. Wickham’s a dumb head.
And Mr. Bennett is more dumb because he is actually agreeing the the wishes Wickham has for asking for some money in order to marry Lydia. The only reason he’s doing it is because he doesn’t want to ruin his reputation and rather have his daughter marry a stupid guy like Wickham. Which I think is the dumbest mistake ever, because come on, MR. BENNETT ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND???

p&p reading log- part cinco
The book is getting juicy, I normally don’t like romance that much. Books about marriage, romance and things like that don’t really tempt me that much and don’t get my attention. I normally lean more towards to science fiction and books like that but I’m actually like this book more than I thought I would.
I can’t believe Elizabeth would defend Wickham when her aunt was talking about him and actually saying that all the things he does is the for the better of who he is. He left Eliza for Miss King, he replaced her why would she go back to him? It makes no sense. Eliza is out of her mind. But at least he finally left Miss King, he seems like a gold-digger in his own way. All he wants is money. Just like how Darcy explained that Wickham was angry with him when he refused to send more money to him when he would it all on dumb stuff.
Well Eliza got what she deserved for her stupidness, but that’s mean to say. Eliza is just trying. Catherine de Bourgh actually finally put her in her place by making fun of her for her lack of talent and musical abilities. But come on Eliza brought that on herself, she purposely brings attention to her by saying stupid things and doesn’t accept whatever comes to her. But I’m just being mean, I still think its sad that Catherine was making fun of her, it’s not really her fault for anything. She doesn’t mean to have a lack of talent or musical abilities.
MR. DARCY ACTUALLY HAS CLASS OMG. I HAVE TO GIVE THAT TO HIM. The fact that he sent a letter stating that he was the one who broke up Jane and Bingley because he had his own fears was pretty cool. I mean not that he broke up the relationship, that’s sad, but he owned up to his mistakes and told her that he was sorry for what he had done. Come on Elizabeth, why aren’t you in love with him already.... I AM!!! I mean yeah he has his faults but a real man owns up his mistakes and not hides behind it like a coward. Awh but Elizabeth actually wants to be married to him. When she goes to visit Pemberley which is the estate Darcy owns, she says it would be nice to be there with him and it seems like she wants all that but, honestly tho she can’t make up her mind. SHE’S SO CONFUSED, AND IT’S CONFUSING.

p&p reading log- part cuatro
Another letter is sent from Caroline Bingley talking about Darcy’s younger sister. I literally do not understand what the heck is up with Caroline, she literally feeds off the pain that she causes Jane and Elizabeth. She’s such a fake friend, I don’t get why Jane continues to write to Caroline even though all she does is lie to Jane about what is really on Bingley’s mind. Caroline knows that her brother is IN LOVE with Jane and yet she still talks about how much he’s connecting with Georgiana. Which just makes Jane more and more hopeless of his return to Netherfield.
You know how people talk about “a mother’s intuition being right”, even though Mrs. Gardiner isn’t Elizabeth’s mother but she is her aunt and has a “mother-ly figure”. Mrs. Gardiner talks about how she thinks that just because of Wickham’s lack of money is not a good match for Elizabeth and that she should not wed him. I don’t know but something about him to me seems pretty off. Even his name, “WICKHAM” sounds evil to me. WICKHAM=WICKED
Finally, Jane realizes the snake that Caroline Bingley is. Jane went to visit her uncle (Mr. Gardiner) and sent a letter to Caroline telling her that she was in town and asked he to come visit. During the visit that Caroline gave to Jane, she acted really cold and mean towards her, in a way Caroline was upset that Jane is standing in the way of her brother’s wedding to Georgiana.
I was right about Wickham. He turned his attention towards another girl named Miss King who just inherited a amount of money. This is just shows that the only think Wickham wants is money and nothing else. Even the narrator of the book points out that Wickham will only marry for money and not love. What a WICKed witch.

p&p reading log- part tres
Jane Bennett is still sick and is still at Netherfield in the care of Bingley and Elizabeth. But being there just makes Elizabeth not want to be there more and more because she’s under the scrutiny of Bingley’s little sister who continues to torment her and make fun of her for her ways.
Like when Eliza refused to dance with Darcy when she was playing the piano she tried to talk to Darcy about how lame is she is for not wanting to dance with him. Caroline took it to the next level by making fun of the Bennett family and asking Darcy if he actually wanted to have her family be part of his family line. When I read this I couldn’t help but think about how ridiculous and how much of a snake Caroline was being. Every time that Darcy would talk about how much he was in love with Eliza she grew more and more jealous of Eliza for her beauty which caused her to be more rude and mean to Eliza to her face and behind her back. Caroline was only jealous of Caroline because she wanted Darcy’s attention to be towards her and not Eliza.
But to me it makes no sense because when the day came that Eliza and Jane left Netherfield Darcy was happy to see them go, especially Eliza because she tempted him too much and he didn’t think she was a good person to be married to. It makes no sense because’s its clear that he is so in love with Eliza but doesn’t think she is a proper match for marriage.
And then there’s Wickham who seems so interested in Eliza and seems like he would drop everything to get married to her which is exactly what Eliza wants in a man and I think she deserves it because of how much hate she gets from Caroline and Darcy when he isn’t falling all over her.
Mr. Collins proposed to Elizabeth.......... I’m done. :(((((( He’s such a weird man, I can’t imagine them getting married. Thank god Elizabeth said no.

I felt the exact same way about The Handmaid’s Tale when I was reading it too, I actually had to go back to start from the beginning and re-read up until the part where I stopped the first time. I also do think that Margaret Atwood’s writing style is dry and slow and it’s hard to pick up with the plot line of the book.
The only real question I have, because I haven’t read this book, is what exactly does Atwood do to show what kind of character Jimmy is? Like are there any stylistic techniques that she uses in order to get across the message of who Jimmy is? Other than that I really can’t think of anything to say atm. :(
In regards to the connections to my book, I’m reading Pride and Prejudice which the main theme is love. The only thing Elizabeth Bennett wants is the love of Mr. Darcy and the happy future that she might have with him. From my take on this book, I would say that Jimmy doesn’t really have any experience with love, especially with in his position of his parents always fighting and not really having any “love” between them.
Also I really do hope the book picks up too! Atwood has this thing where she makes the reader wait till the end to make the book good. Like just when you're about to stop reading the book gets interesting. But good luck with the rest of your reading journey!
Oryx and Crake: Reading the Work 2
What a suprise, the book has not started to pick up. I see a lot of resemblance from handmaids tale to this book. Atwood loves to use flashbacks to give the reader insight on the situation. Every other chapter so far, it has gone from present dystopian, to past world. The main character, it seems, was going through a lot of things with his parents and honestly he was put in a tough position.
I have family members whose parents have gotten a divorce and its not easy on the child or the family. Jimmy, the main character in the past (he changes his name) has parents who are just arguing all the time. Atwood really shows what kind of character Jimmy is through their arguing though. As a reader, i picked up that Jimmy feels guilty for everything that happens between his parents and after doing a little research, (typing in what do you call a person who feels guilty for everything on Google) I found out that this is one of the main signs of Depression. TBH i dont blame Jimmy at all for being depressed after the stuff that hes been through and this is only the first few chapters of this book.
I just left off on the chapter before they introduce Crake. HOPEFULLY, this is where the story will pick up and things will start to get more interesting. Please Atwood, PLEASE.

p&p reading log- part dos
Pride and Prejudice is definitely living up to expectations I really like it. Just for fun I’m also reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies too.
Darcy seems to be a pretty cool guy, he’s actually getting better towards Eliza and the way he talks about her to Bingley’s sisters is so cute. He’s so in love with Eliza and it’s perfect. Maybe Darcy isn’t that half bad.
Eliza’s mom. Ms. Bennet has a plan for Jane to stay at the Bingley residence in Netherfield Park when Jane receives a letter asking her to spend the day there. Jane is told to go to the house on horse rather than taking the carriage because it will start to rain soon and that way Jane is forced to spend the night at Netherfield Park with Mr. Bingley, who is in love with her. When I read this I thought of Mrs. Bennet to a be a sneaky little person who only wants to have her daughter get married to a really rich guy such as Bingley. Which is true when she reveals her plans at the Netherfield ball that Bingley has at his house in celebration for Jane recovering well. But Mrs. Bennet doesn’t do this on purpose, she was really really drunk which Mr. Darcy actually ended up hearing her and soon after Bingley, his two sisters and Darcy pack up and leave Netherfield Park.
But on the bright side Elizabeth actually visits Jane at Netherfield Park because Jane get sick by getting completely soaked by the rain. And when she is there the Bingley sisters try and make fun of Eliza and her family when she wasn’t around and Mr. Darcy actually stands up for her which is so heroic in a way and it documents his true love for Eliza. And the fact that he is the first one to stand up for her between him, Bingley and Mr. Hurst who is Bingley’s brother-in-law. If that doesn’t show that chivalry still exists and Darcy is a good guy I really don’t know what does.

p&p reading log- part uno
So far so good, this book is definitely living up my expectations. The character of Elizabeth Bennett is so appealing to me, because her actions are so civilized and women-like but at the same time she is so feisty and is not afraid to giver her opinion whenever to whomever. I LOVE HER, and her sister Jane. The mom however, is getting on my nerves. She’s always telling Elizabeth that she can’t be the way she is because “she won’t have any man who wants to marry her”. Um no.. Elizabeth can be the person she wants to and be and doesn’t have to conform for anyone, especially a guy. But I get it, back in the days when this story is set in the main goal of a young women was to get married and they had to be on their best behavior, acting like a women.
Let me tell you how much Mr. Darcy is annoying me now. At first he seemed like a good guy and its the first guy that Elizabeth has really liked every since this story started and, shes a good person and get any guy she wants including Mr. Darcy. Except now he is being such a butthead, I don’t understand why he is being so mean to Eliza(beth) when all she wants to do is to get to know him better. He clearly has some feelings for Eliza but is too “man-ly” to even return the feelings or show it. I feel like he is afraid to sequester his manliness (if any actually exists). But definitely 10/10 recommend that he and Eliza get married because they would be good together. They both have a strong opinion about everything and it really comes off, they’re both strong minded people and strong minded people usually thrive if they are together.
But yeah I’m really liking the book so far. It’s a good book and it’s kinda hard to read the archaic english that it is in but its all good I’m making it through and I’m still able to understand everything that goes on. I’ll keep you posted with any more advancements in the book.

pride and prejudice
When Mr. Kreinbring told us about this project and how we had to pick a “old book that would have a considerable amount of creditable sources”, I was a little scared because I had no idea what that meant and I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to find a good book that I would like and all the ones I wanted to read would be taken. But after sitting down and talking to Mrs. Allan in AC (because Mr. Kreinbring was somewhere doing something) about some books that she found were books that fit the restrictions I was able to come up with some books that interested me, but I wasn’t completely satisfied with the choices because that fear of not being able to find sources was still creeping up on me. And then Mrs. Allan asked me about some of the “classic” books that interested me and I really couldn’t think of any that were on the top of my list, but then the conversation kinda lead into talking about some popular movies and things like that and we started talking about Pride and Prejudice and I was like completely going off about how I really wanted to read the book and its been at the top of my reading list every since I watched Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (even though the that isn’t the book I want to read for the assignment, I just wanted to read the actual, normal version of Pride and Prejudice because I knew how popular the book was and the movie that was made) and Mrs. Allan saw how excited I was to read the book (Pride and Prejudice not Pride and Prejudice and Zombies although I probably will read that book for fun) and she was like “YESS THERE YA GO THERE’S THE BOOK THAT’S GONNA INTEREST YOU THE MOST BECAUSE YOU ALREADY HAVE THE IDEA OF WANTING TO READ IT AND PLUS IT MEETS OF ALL MR. KREINBRING’S RESTRICTIONS”,  and so yeah that’s the story of how I picked my book.

property?!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? OKAY I’M DONE.. THIS BOOK ACTUALLY MAKES ME MAD BUT I STILL WANT TO READ IT, I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.
But okay though, it’s seriously not okay to called the women nothing more than a man’s property, what are we back in the 1800s?? Where women were treated like nothing more than a person to bear a child? WOMEN ARE NOT A MAN’S PROPERTY. TELL ME OTHERWISE, and let’s see what happens. AND THE FACT THAT THEIR NAME IS IN CORRESPONDENCE TO THE COMMANDER WHO OWNS THEM. “Of Fred,” “Of Warren,” and “Of Glen” get combined into “Offred,” “Ofwarren,” and “Ofglen.” The names are then preceded by the word “Property”: “Property Offred,” for example. Which is supposed to be a reminder that they are just property and nothing more...
Jeez this book, although I think that Atwood does this on purpose to show how this “fictional reality” really is. She makes up this fictional place and the fictional aspects in it but still adds in the reality of what a lot of women went through back in the olden days. BUt still that’s not okay, I’m a little heated rn.

offred’s wild ride
One thing that I find really interesting is how Offred can see a story in any place or person. She’s able to see the backstory of anything and get a clear idea of the life that person had or the life of a simple thing like a gymnasium. Offred is able to see multiple layers of history such as “high school girls going to basketball games and dances wearing miniskirts, then pants, then green hair (Atwood). She turns it into a base for the history behind such a simple place in a person’s everyday life. It’s like she’s able to connect herself to the history of the past and picture herself in that particular setting.

Mentor Poet #2
Alright so I found this other chick who I’m actually really liking. Her name is April Bernard. Her poems are so dark and creepy and I don’t know something about her just drew me in a little more. She writes with a lot of emotions behind the poems, and I’m not going to lie I actually found her when I was looking for inspiration for my creative writing poem. Although I actually didn’t end up basing my poem on something deep and dark like her poems, it still has lots of emotions behind it that I really want to dig a little deeper into.

would you read this book?
Bel Canto would be a good book for you if you like romantic, sappy, flowy and musical things. The characters in this novel are a perfect example of what it means to be “in love with the music”. Mr. Hokosawa falls in love with the sound of the opera and his love for Roxane Coss, a women he had listened to when his eldest daughter gave him a CD illustrating her beautiful voice through the sound of music. When they are brought to the same small country in the same house they are able to be super close and relate in more ways then one. When the terrorists drop down into quiet birthday party, everything starts to go wrong. In certain situations someone would not be willing to read such a slow book with many many adjectives to describe situations that would be better to be said in one sentence, then this book is not the one for you. If you don’t like books with dragged out beginnings I would steer clear of this book. If you like romance and music, you should probably read this book.
