I love the idea of Dracula and Lisa. Dracula being the most fearsome and powerful of all vampires meeting a human woman who is just at fierce. Lisa actually sought Dracula out for knowledge. I really liked that this began to humanize Dracula before Lisa’s death.

I watched Blade and the blood rave scene was a little confusing. I just don’t really see the point of it, other than to make the situation seem darker. The room appears to be full of vampires, but would they really want to be dancing in blood? Blood is their food. It’s the equivalent of humans dancing in soup pouring from the ceiling.
What’s with the obese Jabba the Hut vampire sitting in the dark doing research?

A vampire is a supernatural being that feeds off of the living. Most lore describes vampires as having a variety of powers as well as immortality. Usually the person who is turned has to come to the brink of death and there is a swapping of blood to pass the curse along. The new vampire powers include superhuman strength and heightened senses of hearing, smell, and sight. If a person were ill or disabled, would becoming a vampire cure them?

Dwight and Creed wouldn’t have needed XXVII chapters or Van Helsing to get things done.

The female vampires in Dracula seem to be dependent and confined to the castle, or at least up to a certain range of the castle. Dracula delivers a small sack with a child in it. Was this a gift? Or does he always fetch food for them? Later on in the novel the vampire women venture to Mina’s location and tempts her to join them. These vampire women are described as voluptuous, terrifying beings. Later on, Van Helsing even wavers from his task, struck by their beauty. My question is are these vampire women were totally dependent on Dracula? We know he attempted to travel, but left them at the castle. Would the vampire women have had free rein without Dracula’s presence? Were they just his concubines? If Dracula had died, and they lived, would they have avenged his death or would they have been free?

What have I done.
Inspired by this post by i-want-my-iwtv. This was a lot of fun to draw! I probably spent more time on this than I should have, but hey! I got in some drawing practice in Photoshop on my tablet, and practice in a style I don’t usually draw in, and practice drawing western historical fashion. :D

As I was reading Dracula, I thought it was interesting that Dracula had control over wolves. In various other films and books, werewolves and vampires have this ongoing feud. Now the wolves that Dracula controlled were just regular wolves, not werewolves, but I still thought it was odd. If Dracula can control wolves, then he should be able to control werewolves, if there had been one in the story. I’d like to know where this feud originated from.

I recently re-watched the movie Van Helsing. This scene with the lack of Dracula’s reflection is one of my favorites. The room is actually filled with people, but not one is shown in the background. Not having a reflection is a popular trait, but what does mean? After doing some research I learned that the reflection in the mirror is a representation of a soul. Because vampires lack a soul, they also lack a reflection in the mirror.

Now that I have completed Interview with a Vampire, I would like to reflect on Lestat’s character. When he is introduced in the beginning on the novel, we see him through Louis’s mortal eyes. He seems beautiful and mysterious. Over time we learn that he is ruthless and dramatic. At the end of the novel, Lestat is almost a completely different person. He is begging for Louis’s return, desperate. This character change for me was the most shocking. Lestat is losing his connection to the modern world and can’t adapt to the changed world around him. How many vampires did he make to try and make this connection?  We know sbout Louis, the muscisian., and this other young vampire at the end. Why is he incapable of keeping people (other vampires) around?
