Y'know, half of the problems with season 2 are just the show hard pivoting in genre without the needed setup. They go hard drama in the first 2 episodes, awkwardly straddle dramedy in 3-4, go back to straight comedy in 5-7 (thus ignoring/erasing the serious trauma set up in episodes 1-4), and then all of a sudden straight fucking realistic drama for Izzy's speech to ricky/Izzy's death, and then back to comedy for the wedding. The tone whiplash is insane, especially for thirty minute episodes. I cannot get over the fact that this season was only FOUR HOURS LONG and yet the pacing was like this, only making the tonal problems more obvious.
When Ed said "what can I do, Captain, to restore my reputation?" While wearing a fucking cat collar I could literally fucking see dozens upon dozens of fanfic authors opening Google docs to start typing. There's no fucking way they didn't know what they were doing there LMAO
im never not thinking about that post that's like "you can see a marked difference in rhys darby's self confidence after gay people in their 20s started commenting slay on his instagram posts"
Oh there is something so deeply and horrendously ironic about the fact that Shiv couldn’t be CEO. She couldn’t inherit her father’s kingdom. Her husband had to. The only way she can have it is by being a wife and a mother. Because that’s the only way a woman can have any power in the world her father created.
