thinking about how bull would've made an excellent tamassran in another life. the way he dotes on his chargers, goes out of his way to put the people around him at ease and minimize the threat of his physical presence with boisterous laughter and easy acceptance. even the way he advertises himself as a service top - 'if it's someone you care about, you give them what they need' - tells me bull could've had a softer life. tama tending to the imekari.
but instead they sent ashkaari to seheron where he became hissrad and when that broke him they sent him to orlais where he became the iron bull or died trying.

The reason #357 why I'm so crazy about Handers romance is that by the end of Act 3, all the other romances had reached their logical conclusions.
The slave got his freedom. The elf stopped chasing the past. The rogue stopped running from attachments.
For Handers, however, the climax of Act 3 is only the beginning, because the moment when Anders sits his ass down on that damned crate is literally the first time he shows true vulnerability to Hawke in their relationship.
All the masks are finally off; they're on equal footing, and Hawke can either kill Anders or build them both up from the ground, just as they have built themselves up after arriving in Kirkwall, and I think that's so cool.

like people like to point out anders' weird jealous confrontation with hawke's LI as a reason he's a bad person and it's like objectively i understand. but also i don't think you will ever be able to make me see that scene in a bad light because literally nothing is funnier to me than trying to assert that you would be a better partner to the guy you're currently tricking into being your terrorism accomplice while in a sewer collecting piss samples

A lot of people have commented on how Redcliffe in DA:I looks nothing like it did in DA:O. But actually there is a canonical reason for this. You see when Anders blew up the Kirkwall Chantry, the destruction was so great and so wide that debris flew all the way to Ferelden and reshaped the landscape. This was revealed in a hidden codex entry found by clipping through the windmill.

If the Qunari had been created as a possible player option from the start of the series, even keeping the broad strokes framework of "other religious/spiritual power that has had history of conflict with the Chantry but is currently in a state of (sort of) detente" how do you think their presentation would have changed, if at all?
Unfortunately I doubt that would have changed a whole lot, just because we know from elves that being playable doesn't mean actually having a more sensitive narrative. The problem is rooted in the writers being mostly white Canadians who think they're above cultural sensitivity. That is what would need to change.

Hi!!!! I know you've said you're alright with the revelation that elves come from spirit. But how do you feel about the fact that them making bodies for themselves is more or less what triggered the event leading to the blight..? personally it leaves a bad taste in my mouth to shift the blame from tevinter to ancient elves and them wanting to exist in the material world...
thx for reading!
THAT I'm not a fan of, mostly for two reasons.
Why does everything have to always come back to elves? Like, keep in mind I am saying this as an avid elf fan, but even I find it a little annoying when literally every bit of world lore is somehow always linked to them.
The tonal shift to "actually the ancient elves were the real source of all evil" feels so awkward after spending 15+ years worth of lore saying, in great detail, how elves are victims of colonization and oppression. If this was the secret plan all along, why the fuck did BioWare put so much effort into making the elves an obvious allegory for marginalized racial/ethnic communities? I think it is irresponsible to push such a right-wing narrative (yeah, not even centrist let's be real here,) of a world in which the oppressed were the real bad guys all along, in today's political climate especially. Because even though the revelations about the evanuris do not actually change the fact that all the elves to come after them have suffered greatly under human colonial brutality, there are far too many people who genuinely miss that. I know, because it's impossible to talk about real colonization in real life without someone trying to justify it with "well your people were already #problematic before white people arrived," as if that makes suffering genocide okay. (And as if Europeans have any moral high ground to stand on when it comes to history between each other either.) So yeah. It leaves a terrible, terrible taste in my mouth every time a similar argument comes up in fandom and in game universe about elves. And honestly, I'm struggling to even put it to further words right now, but I feel like I haven't quite even gotten to the whole depth of it in this response... sorry for that. I just... yeah. It's bad. I don't like it.

the problem of fandom reducing characters who are women and/or people of colour to sexist/racist stereotypes is definitely aggravated by the fact that a lot of fans simply do not pay very much attention to these characters in the first place then subconsciously paper over the gaps in their perception with things they’ve been culturally conditioned to believe are true about people in the same category as said character
