Immediately starting off by blaming Brandon Mull for the death of Harambe was a great introduction. I'm a huge fan this was a fun watch.

FABLEHAVEN FANS. SOMETHING HUGE HAS HAPPENED.
If you’ve read Fablehaven, chances are you remember the milk scene. Now, recently, Brandon Mull interviewed with Between Two Perns, and boy did we get some gems from that interview!
“One of the main characters, Seth, always wears a camouflage shirt. Is that because he’s a Republican?”
“I think you very quickly have a Chuck Tingle novel instead of a Brandon Mull novel."
Anyway, Brandon has finally addressed the crazy cow milking scene in book 1. He said his wife thinks his brain is broken because of that scene, but he personally thinks it's weird and funny.
He does regret the weird nakedness scenes though! He mentions the chicken-to-grandmother transition, and the shrinking scene as well.
We then get a comparison between Fablehaven and Midsommar. All in all, the best interview I've ever seen and I am dying of laughter.

I must confess I never cared for warrenessa growing up + reading the books for the first few hundred times...sure...it was cool or whatever but not something i focused on
slowly, and then all at once, while writing Vanessa's character study, i became obsessed with warren and vanessa
the mission partners thing, the whole betrayal, the coming back to someone who betrayed you and deciding to love them again — the mission partners to lovers to enemies to friends to mission partners to lovers of it all
now it's all i think about. reading Fablehaven right now, everything i see points to warrenessa. i have warrenessa glasses on and it's GREAT! Warren says quite literally anything? i see the hidden meaning he's trying to say — that he loves vanessa deeply and for that her betrayal hurts more than anything
warren and vanessa were always my two favorite characters. but now? combined? they have expanded to take up all my brain space and it is glorious
(no — i do not remember dragonwatch and only vaguely remember being completely turned off by how their relationship was portrayed in those books. bc of that i am not trying to remember it either)

People don't talk enough about the vocab in the Fablehaven books, and the best part is that it's completely random what words the teenage characters do and don't know. Seth instantly understands "garrote" and doesn't blink an eye at "schizoid," but he's completely lost when he hears "steps pyramid." The Sphinx literally has to trace the pattern with his fingers before Seth understands.

Everyone’s favorite satyrs are back at Fablehaven after helping Dragonwatch put an end to the dragon rebellion. Truth be told, with everything they’ve been through, Newel and Doren are maturing into more responsible citizens. The thought of growing out of adolescence has the two goatmen in crisis mode. If that isn’t enough to worry about, there’s a new threat at Fablehaven. A few unlucky inhabitants have been found petrified, turned to stone, including some of their fellow satyrs. Could a rampaging gorgon be on the loose? Newel and Doren become intrigued after an informant divulges information about a legendary listening doll—a talisman with the power to reveal the antidote for any magical malady—hidden somewhere in the Florida swamplands. If the mystical doll can solve any problem, maybe she has the answer of how to turn back the clock, so they won’t have to grow up. Perhaps a trip to Florida is just what Newel and Doren need to get their mojo back in time to win the annual Satyr Games. Two new challengers, Barrett and Hoff, are talking smack about dethroning Newell and Doren as perennial champions of the games. And the new opponents have a smartphone! Finding the listening doll and saving Fablehaven is important, sure. But Newel and Doren are also desperate for a smartphone of their own. Let the adventure and the games begin!
This is the official synopsis for the upcoming Newel and Doren book. From the cover art it would seem that Verl got petrified. This gorgon was teased at in the Fablehaven cookbook, and this looks like it might grow into a series of its own.
