something vindictive but ultimately harmless I do at work is that if you’re at my register and you’re rude to me and you pay with cash I am finding the most disgusting desolate fucked up unspeakable coin I can to give to you. oh you were mean to me? you’re getting the yucky nickel bitch

it's fine to not love writerly prose. some of history's best narratives are written in readerly prose. and just the same it's fair to not like "directorly" movies. some of history's most significant movies are "watcherly"; you could argue battleship potemkin was an effort to unify an early theory of Watchable Movies. and with all that taken into account i think it's fair to not like wes anderson's overt, self-delighted directorly style. but the way people list him off the top of their heads as pretentious and unwatchable when getting defensive about movies is unbearable. the man makes looney tunes spy thrillers.

bringing it up again for the millionth time but I'm still obsessed with the way that hannibal lecter is canonically aware of the narrative not because its ever explicitly stated but because the author who created him genuinely believes this to be true and stopped writing the book series because he's afraid of him
