ok back to DC now I swear
sorry for the lack of DC posting y'all I've been in the car for like the past two days just listening to the audio book of Never Lie by Frieda McFadden and I have been damn near incapable of thinking about anything else. I've only got like 2 hours of the book left but 5 hours of the drive left help

>:[ <- me when people act like jason would have a dirty apartment/house when there's canon proof that he's actually a very clean/organized person
there are certain times where im aware that i project my own thoughts and feelings and experiences onto characters (like jason) that have similar experiences or feelings and this is probably one of those times but i dont like the idea that fanon (mostly) tries to push of jason being the super messy one who lives in some shitty apartment that looks a whole mess
it just sits bad with me that the one poor kid is headcanoned as the dirty one — both with his living situation and personal hygiene wise.
and that could very easily be Me being Biased bc of my own experiences and how they have effected me but yeah

Timbern Headcanon 2
Bernard somehow predicts all of the batkid's civilian identities, all except Tim's.
Bernard: Babe. I know who Batman is.
Tim: I'd like to hear your guess.
Bernard: Bruce Wayne.
Tim: Wait, how-
Bernard: Think about it, Batman is some middle-aged rich guy, Bruce Wayne is a middle aged rich man, plus the batkids are pretty much identical to the wayne kids.
Tim:...
Tim: For example?
Bernard: Batgirl is Cass Cain, Spoiler is Stephanie Brown, they're probably dating, Duke Thomas is Signal.
Tim: What about *Red Robin*?
Bernard: Idk like some guy called Paul or something.
Tim: Paul?
Bernard: I just have a gut feeling.
(Happy Pride Month!)

major major major major major spoilers for never lie under the cut like seriously don't look if you ever want to read this book istg
I am actually so mad that Luke is dead I literally didn't care about anyone else like YEAH I was sad about the other deaths (not ej for the record fuck him I mean the side characters) especially Adrian's but like LUKE my BABY. UGH. it probably didn't help that I was picturing him as thomas blake in villains united the whole time but MY BOY DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER EVERYONE IN THAT BOOK WAS A FUCKING LUNATIC EXCEPT FOR HIM and yeah ok maybe he was A LITTLE BIT of a lunatic for going back to Adrian but like. UGH. The narrator (still trying to stay vaguely spoiler free for the biggest twist) saying he "looked resigned" before they killed him DUDE IM SO GLAD I WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT DURING THAT PART BECAUSE. THE RAGE AND ANGUISH I FELT. HE LOVED HER SO FUCKING MUCH. HE LOVED HER SO FUCKING MUCH AND HE NEVER REALLY FOUND OUT WHAT HAPPENED. LIKE YEAH ADRIAN SUCKED SO BAD AS A PERSON BUT HE LOVED HER AND DESERVED A HAPPIER ENDING THAN WHAT HE GOT. HE DESERVED TO BE WITH HER LIKE THEY WERE FOR THAT ONE FUCKING CHAPTER IN THE MIDDLE BEFORE EJ PULLED HIS FUCKING ****BULLSHIT**** AND ADRIAN DID HER BULLSHIT IN RETURN AND. ok like. I know. I know that Adrian was fucked up and it was at least 50% her fault that everything happened like it did. and she was manipulative. and she was awful. and she used luke. but oh my god. oh my GOD I don't know how to FEEEEEEEEEEL!!!! me when the complex characters designed to make you feel conflicted make me feel conflicted :O

Still thinking about albatross for a superhero identity for Tim
for one it’s another bird, and I do like the tradition of keeping bird names, one that spends its life at sea, and now that marina is Tim’s now it would be nice for a water themed bird to reference that
it’s also famous for its unique way of flying that means it can go for years without touching the ground, which could be easily interpreted as a metaphor: landing being civilian life and flying being vigilante life, with landing on water being the mix between the two
there’s a superstition about not killing them or it will bring bad luck and another about seeing one fly overhead you means you’ll be protected, which I think both are very ‘robin’
Tim’s had a lot of his identity around his dad but thanks to a recent batman issue we know that Janet liked poetry, a very famous poem has lead to the metaphor ‘albatross around your neck’ which is a heavy burden of your own doing that can’t be easily gotten rid of, which also reminds me a lot of Tim’s vigilante life
the poem itself ‘the rime of the ancient mariner’ also has the interpretation of the albatross around the neck being a sign of guilt and during the poem the Mariners crew mates are killed one by one leaving him alone, which really reminds me of Tim during his one year later and Red Robin era
the mariner spends the rest of his time telling his story so people don’t repeat his mistakes which now that sparrow (Darcy Thomas) is in the picture, that could really pair well with a mentorship angle
