What Can We Feed The Stray Dogs - Root For Cause
Dogs are the most common animal breed seen on the roads. They are the kindest animals but the most vulnerable. Stray dogs are the smartest breed in survival. They are born without a home unlike the pet animals. They grow without the surety of daily access to food and water.
Stray dogs are experts in knowing human gestures thus, they understand the entry of a stranger in the streets. They understand the evil intentions of a person and if they bite someone or bark, for their own protection, people start blaming the dogs for being harmful and unfriendly. They are then given to the animal authorities and are separated from their families.

Nevertheless, there is no foundation in human cruelty. Not so long ago, a family (not a dog lover) poisoned a female dogs' milk. The reason was due to the separation of the mother from her puppies had made her cranky and upset. Her anger towards the authority members had led her to bite 3 members from the society. Poisoning her food does not justify her pain. Though, the family claimed they did it for her welfare. But, there is no humanity in killing an animal.

Usually a man's favorite animal is a dog because they are friendly and loyal. So, how can he sleep at night knowing that the dogs in his surrounding are hungry. They might not have eaten anything for days and nights. They might be surviving on that one chapati that some kind man gave them some day and now has forgotten about it.
Street dogs are not as lucky as the pet dogs and are very unfortunate when it comes to food. It is their helplessness that forces them to feed upon garbage, loiter and grass. The garbage that is thrown by human beings on the road which might contain some sensitive objects, is very harmful for the dogs.
Root for cause has started to encourage people to 'Feed The Strays'. A dog gives so much love and asks for so less. Being a human being it is our sacred duty to feed the dogs especially when their needs are limited. Every house contains milk and chapati. So, feeding the strays won't be a bid deal. Many people want to feed biscuits to the stray dogs but very few people know the harm it can cause to the dogs. Biscuits contains all purpose flour(maida) and sugar. Sugar and Maida can cause decrease in the blood sugar level of the dog as well as liver failure. Therefore, you should ignore biscuits and feed them chapati which is made of wheat flour (atta) and milk. Make sure you do not mix poison in it. Also, you can buy biscuits which are made of wheat flour(atta) and have less sugar. Such biscuits are available in markets for sugar patients which can be fed to the dogs.
Also, a person can feed a mixture of rice and eggs in bowl. Rice and eggs contain protein and carbohydrates that will give a dog proper energy. Some people who are already dog owners can feed the stray with Pedigree. There are many non-vegetarian families having chicken feasts in their house. The bones of the chicken which are thrown in the garbage, are later rescued by the dogs themselves. So better if you feed the bones directly to the dogs as it contains calcium it will give energy to the dogs. Make sure you wash it before feeding because the spices are not good for them. Also, you should ignore feeding the dogs meat because it leads to their liver failure.

Many researchers have proved that feeding a dog keeps you emotionally happy and enthusiastic. It also cures problems like depression. There is no doubt that a lot of people enjoy feeding the dogs but all they need is an initiative and encouragement. Once you start feeding the dogs there will be no end to it and soon it will become a habit. Take a pledge that you will feed minimum 5 dogs daily and no sugary item. If you want to do good do it in the best way.
