Uvalde Massacre

What happened in Uvalde, TX is not okay. The fact that this is normalized and glossed over is unacceptable. 21 people were killed, and 19 of those were kids. This wasn’t a high school or middle school; it was an elementary school. They were young kids with their lives ahead of them and we did nothing to prevent this. And we are still doing nothing, even after this. I know some are praying and that’s good, keep praying. But try and do something, anything. It is stupid to call this a “shooting”, because it’s not. A shooting is one or two people, sometimes even none. What happened is a massacre. Stand up for these young kids and teacher who lost their lives. I agree we need to have guns available but we also need stricter laws. More safety and gun control in place. An 18yr. should not have access to an AR15. Remember this, we always swear no more shootings will happen, but they always do. Don’t just sit there and place all the blame on government officials. I understand it is partly there fault but we can also step in. Vote, Protest, Donate, Charity. Do anything to change what happened and to make the violence stop. Thank you.

This is so sad. Teachers should not have to do this.

I am a teacher in the US.

I can barricade a classroom in less than a minute. I know that when the fire alarm goes off we lock ourselves in the room until someone confirms it's real so we don't get shot evacuating the building. I am trained to pack a bullet wound and apply a tourniquet. My classroom is organized with an active shooter in mind - filing cabinets in front of glass, big desks one shove away from blocking a door, hiding places out of sight of the windows. I have come to terms with the knowledge that I might die protecting my students when all I want to do is show them poetry is fun and teach creative writing.

Maybe this needs to happen again to show what society & their voting choices did to these kids.

You wanna befriend a tumblr girl? Maybe compliment her on something that just isn’t her body, you don’t think she gets enough of that in dms or ask?
