No you walnut I don't want to see explicit sex scenes, especially when I'm with family. It's one thing to imply characters slept together or show them kiss and then fade to black. But showing two actors taking their clothes off and humping each other is not needed. Even moreso when you find out how uncomfortable it is for the actors.

I'm tired of hearing 'non-toxic masculinity' every time there's a male character that's noble, kindhearted, or otherwise has positive qualities. The implication is that the default masculinity is bad and 'good' masculinity is some rare thing that needs to be specified.

Imagine if when there was a good female character, people said she had "non-bitch femininity." Or when there was a good black character, we said he has "non-thug blackness." That wouldn't be cool, would it?

i like the idea of doing shakespeare adaptations set in high school a la 10 things i hate about you or she's the man but i feel like we're missing some opportunities by only doing the comedies. i wanna see macbeth but it's about a really high stakes student council election

"Don't use Libby because it costs libraries too much, pirate instead" is such a weird, anti-patron, anti-author take that somehow manages to also be anti-library, in my professional librarian-ass opinion.

It's well documented that pirating books negatively affects authors directly* in a way that pirating movies or TV shows doesn't affect actors or writers, so I will likely always be anti-book piracy unless there's absolutely, positively no other option (i.e. the book simply doesn't exist outside of online archives at all, or in a particular language).

Also, yeah, Libby and Hoopla licenses are really expensive, but libraries buy them SO THAT PATRONS CAN USE THEM. If you're gonna be pissed at anybody about this shitty state of affairs, be pissed at publishing companies and continue to use Libby or Hoopla at your library so we can continue to justify having it to our funding bodies.

One of the best ways to support your library having services you like is to USE THOSE SERVICES. Yes, even if they are expensive.
