It feels like the gothic scene is slowly disappearing. Since moving to Thuringia, I feel more and more disconnected. Scene parties feel increasingly exhausting. I miss the joy, the beauty and the long nights.

After a long search, I was able to find a photo of the woman whose gravestone we discovered on our four-sided farm. Else Liska Oettel lived from 1892 to 1957 and moved to the farm in 1918. I was able to trace all the previous owners of the farm back to 1687. It seems that our farm was once a mill that belonged to a manor. Unfortunately, only the estate’s utility building remains today.

On the evening of March 31, 1922, six people were bludgeoned to death on a remote farmstead in Bavaria. Despite decades of investigations and over 100 suspects, the case has never been solved.

The legend of Hinterkaifeck is rooted in part in the seemingly endless loose ends and unanswered questions surrounding it—its oddities and contradictions. As time moves further away from the events, the mystery only grows stranger, and the myth becomes ever more powerful. It is precisely this inexplicable and incomprehensible nature that is so deeply intertwined with the sixfold murder at Hinterkaifeck.
