"I think I'm gong crazy. I keep seeing her." petalsxfallen

       “petal – what do you mean.. you keep seeing her?” concern was clear on rosie’s face at that, and she bent to be at a more equal height to the pearl, frowning slightly. while she doubted petal was.. crazy, in any capacity.. she still worried. she didn’t want petal to suffer – she’d already been through more than enough through the years.

"Hey babe I stole a ship. Let's go see your sisters!" petalsxfallen

     “ you stole a — where did you even steal it from?” rosie blinked over at petal with a mixture of amusement and concern, reaching out to gently slide her hand across the exterior of the ship, feeling a nervous excitement rise up inside of her. the rose quartzes.. she could finally see them again.. the ones who survived the war, at least.. 

    “do you know how to fly?”

    now there was a face she hadn’t seen.. since.. well.. before the war. being stuck on earth without the company of her fellow rose quartzes for thousands of years had been hard, and a part of her had.. never expected to see any of them again.. but to see not only a rose quartz but.. her matron...? rosie could only stare, speechless, feeling a tightness in her chest she couldn’t quite explain. 

   “i.. i don’t..”

       “ you must be steven -- is that right? ” 

   hands clasped in front of her chest, rosie stared down at the seemingly half organic, half gem being, her head tilted to one side. she wasn’t sure what to make of all of this.. gems on earth again..? no more war between homeworld and earth? she.. couldn’t quite comprehend it all. she’d been ‘on the run’ for so long.. could it really.. truly all be over?

  rosie hadn’t been to this part of the earth for some time, but -- well, she certainly hadn’t expected.. all of THIS. staring up at the distinctive homeworld architecture.. (seemingly mixed with human design?) she couldn’t help but feel.. overwhelmed. just what was all of this? she stepped backwards, away from it all, only for her back to hit into another gem behind her, and she spun, eyes wide.

    “ oh -- sorry, i’m so sorry! ”

    little homeschool, huh? for a gem who had spent thousands of years isolated on earth after the war, the concept of a school for gems to learn to become earthlings was.. baffling, but somehow, it left her feeling.. warm. she was already an earthling, really, but.. perhaps she could help in.. some kind of way? everyone had told her to look for.. steven, and so.. that was what she was doing, guided by a messy picture drawn by another gem, so when she spotted someone who.. vaguely resembled the picture, she blinked, tilting her head. 

    “ oh! are you steven universe? ”

Getting lifted up and spun around wasn’t anything new for Carnelian. It happened plenty of times with the other quartzes. She just joined Rosie in laughing a bit and took in the question that followed.

“Oh, well… have you heard?” Carnelian asked. “About how the rebel Rose Quartz and Pink Diamond were the same Gem the whole time? Once news that Pink Diamond wasn’t really shattered got to us, we let all of the rose quartzes out.” The explanation was pretty quick for something so big. Even Carnelian knew that.

“oh, well, i heard about THAT, yes... and i knew that homeworld gems were coming to earth and.. building lives here, which is.. great! wonderful -- it’s so nice to see everyone happy and... building something. i just.. i didn’t even know they were bubbled, i thought most of them had been shattered during the war.”    rosie stopped spinning carnelian after a moment, setting her down with an apologetic, sheepish smile. 

“but thank stars they’re all okay! i didn’t.. i never thought i’d ever see any of them again!”

“Yeah, all the rose quartzes are unbubbled. They’re totally free! And they’re living with us at the zoo!” No, Carnelian wasn’t sure who Rosie was. Did she care? Nope.

     “ free? they’re FREE! ”   for so long, rosie had DREAMED of that moment.. to be able to see them again, the gems who she now knew where her family. in her glee, she picked up carnelian underneath the arms, spinning in a circle, a bubbly, delighted laugh breaking out of her, happy tears in her eyes. “ i can’t BELIEVE it! who unbubbled them? i have to know! ”

BStar just flings herself at Rosie with no regrets as to how fast she catapulted herself.

     “ black star! ” 

               the taller gem’s glee was clearly evident as she lifted up the smaller gem, spinning her around with a delighted, ecstatic laugh. there were happy tears in rosie’s eyes, she really couldn’t express just how she felt. everything finally felt.. perfect. she hugged black star close to her, and pressed their foreheads together, laughing joyfully. 

         “ i missed you! did you hear the news? ”

      “ wait --- they’re free? they.. they’re all REALLY free? ”

Some headcanons for Petal and Rosie post CYM please?

oooh let’s see..

 neither of them stuck around to see the corrupted gems healed - the diamonds presence made them incredibly uncomfortable since they’d been on earth the whole time during the episode

seeing that nobody seemed to be willing to free the rose quartzes, they keep conspiring about trying to take one of the smaller ships in steven’s legs to go to the zoo - they’ll do it themselves if they need to.

petal introduces rosie to steven properly to encourage her to get to know him. rosie knows he’s got pink’s gem, and she’s very wary. petal gets it, she was mad too, but.. how can you not love steven?

they go to pink’s palanquin together at one point to air out their upset & anger and hurt at pink somewhere steven can’t hear. they soothe each other and rosie plays with her hair and makes her flower crowns while she rants.. and when rosie gets upset and cries, petal strokes her hair and tells her she loves her.
