Fieldwork Assignment #4
https://youtu.be/lvvimH5_Ap4
youtube
Power: I believe this song is a complete representation of power. The song repeatedly speaks about being a "conquerer" and not accepting defeat no matter what circumstances and situations life may throw at you
Gender: I believe that this could be a gender-neutral song. The song is not directly addressing woman or men, making it seem at it can be identified and relatable to anyone. "we all make mistakes, you might fall on your face, but you gotta get up!"
Dialect: When I was listening to this song and thought of dialect I immediately thought of the very first verses of the song. "Life is like a big merry go round, you're up and then down, going in circles tryin' to get to where you are." I interpreted that people from all over may go through obstacles and you may have your fair share of highs and lows. But despite anything life throws at you, you have to get up and persevere which is a universal concept.

Fieldwork Assignment #3
Tumblr media
1. For my assignment I chose to map out the Kings Contrivance Village Center. I chose this location because it is located very close to my house so I am incredibly familiar with the area. When mapping out the village center, i noticed that it was quite diverse with it's stores, it is composed of: convenient stores, fast food, a grocery store, and even a pharmacy.
2. I never really realized how many people come to this village center. It is so diverse and has many different departments of consumer goods that I didn't realize until I mapped it out.
3. I expected to find more kids around but it was mainly filled with teenagers and adults varying from middle aged to elderly people.
4. I noticed that more people tend to come in the morning compared to the night. People usually want to get tasks done in the day so there are less people coming in and out of the village center in the afternoon and night.

Fieldwork Assignment #2
During this fieldwork assignment, I learned that my wants outway my needs. This made me reevaluate what I tend to buy, and it made me realize how much money I was spending. This assignment made me realize that I should think twice before purchasing a "want" item. If I become more cautious, I may be able to save so much more than I have been doing. I have learned to fight the urge to buy something just because it is trendy, popular, or will not necessarily benefit me in the long run.

Flexible Accumulation
I used this image because both companies have used social media to promote their brand. The constant battle to determine the better sandwich is promoting sales in both restaurants

Uneven Development
I chose this picture because one half of the city looks more luxurious, wealthy, and clean compared to the other broken doen, dirty, poverty stricken region. Despite them both being within the same city, there is an uneven distribution of care and wealth going on

Time Space Compression
I used this picture because the iPhone allows you to access instant information and data within seconds, compared to someone with a flip phone. They may not have access to the web and information as easy due to the lack of technology within that device

Fieldwork Assignment #1
fieldwork #1:
1. My product is lipstick. Lipstick is used primarily to give the lips color, texture, and sometimes a hint of shine. Lipsticks are made to appeal to the current fashion trend and come in a wide range of colors. Lipstick is also made of dyes and pigments in a fragranced oil-wax base. Lipstick is composed of: wax, oil, alcohol, and pigment. The wax is used to enable tge mixture to form into any desired shape, oil is added to the wax along with pigment and fragrance to add color and an appealing smell to the wax.
2. Making lipstick is a tedious and precise job, despite adcanced technology helping to ease the workload on workers. There are 4 steps in the making & manufacturing of lipstick. First the raw ingredients are melted and mixed separately. The components are then heated then mixed in stainless steel or ceramic containers. After the pigment mass is ground and mixed, it is added to the hot wax mass until a uniform color and consistency is obtained. The fluid lipstick can then be strained and molded and can be used.
3. The lipstick effect is the theory that when facing an economic crisis/downfall, consumers will be more willing to buy less expensive goods. The assumption is that consumers will buy luxury or more expensive goods even if there is a crisis. Even if the economy is deteriorating, people will still buy goods that have less impact on their available funds at the time.
4. People from all over use lipstick no matter their gender, age, or sexuality. It is used to express oneself and enhance ones' beauty. Although lipstick is highly favored in makeup, it can also negatively affect us aswell. Lead is commonly found in lipstick which is very harmful to our bodies. It mainly affects our nervous system and hurts our hormonal system. Lipstick can always cause allergic reactions and irritation to the surrounding skin. Another downside to lipstick is the workers producing these products are not paid very much at all. People working in factories in China are sometimes paid as little as 0.60 cents an hour!
5. Lipstick is often retailed depending on the brand. Mac Cosmetics sells their lipsticks from $15.99 USD and the cost may vary from there. If wasted or polluted into our waters, it could cause them to become contaminated with lead which could lead to numerous people and animals to catch diseases.
6. The danger within lipstick is the lead, if ingested enough (through licking your lips occasionally), or even having it seep into your lips, you may be prone to get sick. The study, which was conducted at the University of California, Berkeley’s School of Public Health, asked a group of 12 girls aged 14 – 19 what type of lip glosses and lipsticks they used on a regular basis. They found that lead was detected in 75% of the products tested
