controversial opinion, but characters are so much more interesting when you are able to forget about shipping them for a moment and actually appreciate their unrelated personal plot/arc. if the most interesting thing you can think of about a character is the ship you like them with, then I don't think you actually like that character very much

#facts #i used to be obsessed with shipping and it was exhausting #now i can actually appreciate characters and the arcs they take and the care their creators put into making them #plus being obsessed with shipping can negatively affect how you process real world relationships #cause you're taking in romance tropes and idealized relationships that aren't realistic or conplex like real life #and even if you're aware of that it still has an effect on you
