I have a lot of feelings about the rise of he would not fucking say that attitudes in fandom spaces and the paralysing effect it can have on creators. As a writer i think it’s important to just write what feels true to you and not what you think others will “approve” of. Like even as a reader i have enjoyed a variety of different characterisations that all work because the writer makes them work for a particular story. And a fic that’s written out of character to some will be in character to others. Writing fic is not your job you’re not being paid it’s your hobby please. Make them as close to canon as possible. Make them completely different. Who cares! Have fun! Have so much fun! There is an audience for every kind of fic and every kind of character interpretation i promise

Are you still taking kiss-prompts? What about thigh kisses? 👀
More kiss prompts! Sorry it took me a while to get to this one; I've been busy these past few weeks <3
~
Tony’s building, the overpriced monstrosity that it is, has a rooftop pool where he had lured Steve by hinting that sometimes, he sunbathes there naked because, according to him, he doesn’t like tan lines.
“And your neighbors don’t mind you sunbathing naked?” Steve had asked.
“Please.” Tony had rolled his eyes. “Everyone there is just as rich and eccentric as I am. They have their own idiosyncrasies, and if I don’t want to be bothered I just pay them off.”
“Oh,” Steve had said. He thought paying off the neighbors to get some privacy was a little out there, but given that Tony was a billionaire’s son, trying very hard to get rid of his fortune, he wasn’t that surprised. He frowned. “You’re not eccentric.”
“Steve,” Tony had said, giving him a Look. “I sunbathe nude.”
Long story short, Steve had been unable to stop thinking about Tony stretched out on a lounge chair, miles of golden skin on glorious display, so when Tony had asked him if he wanted to spend the day at the pool with him, he’d jumped at the chance.
Tragically, when Steve got there, Tony was not stretched out nude in one of the lounges.
He is, however, wearing the tiniest pair of red swim trunks known to man. So small, in fact, that Steve isn’t sure they’re not secretly bikini bottoms from the women’s department. Not that Steve would complain even if they are from the women’s department. Dating Tony has opened his eyes to the benefits of his partners wearing what would traditionally be classified as women’s lingerie—albeit made for men—namely, that it’s very sexy and Steve would worship at the altar of Tony’s ass in black lace for the rest of his life if he could.
“Good morning, beloved,” Tony drawls from his floatie in the middle of the shallow end. “Imagine seeing you here.” He raises his eyebrow above his sunglasses and crooks his finger in Steve’s direction.
Steve makes some kind of noise, strips out of his shirt, heedlessly dropping it… somewhere, and dives in, traveling half the length of the pool before he surfaces right in front of Tony.
“Good morning, sweetheart,” he says, wrapping his hand around Tony’s ankle and tugging him closer so his gorgeous thighs bracket Steve’s head—exactly where he wants him to be. “I thought you were going to be naked.”
“It’s just such a beautiful day,” Tony says carelessly, but his stomach tenses under Steve’s gaze, betraying how affected he is by his nearness. “I couldn’t possibly be expected not to get in the pool.”
Steve hums and kisses Tony’s right thigh, sloppy and open-mouthed. Tony tastes like chlorine and sunscreen, and Steve ignores both of those in favor of leaving a livid red mark on his skin. Tony sighs sweetly, muscles bunching under Steve’s teeth.
“You’re a tease,” Steve murmurs, tilting his head in the other direction to leave a matching mark on Tony’s other thigh.
“Mmhmm,” Tony agrees breathily. “An absolute menace. That’s why Natasha thought we’d be good together.”
Steve chuckles. “Sweetheart, please don’t talk about Natasha when I’m kissing you.”
“You’re not kissing me,” he points out. “My mouth is up here, and until such a time as it’s occupied, I can talk about whatever I—mmph!”
Steve kisses him again and pulls him fully off the floatie, kicking backwards to pull them back out into deeper water. Tony wraps his arms and legs around him, clinging to him as they kiss again and again.

About the AO3 "No Guest Comments for a while" warning
If you're not following any of AO3's social media accounts you might be in the dark as to what kind of "spam comments" have engendered this banner at the top of the site:
Tumblr media
These spam comments have been posted about a great deal on the AO3 subreddit for the past couple of days. Initially they comprised a bunch of guest (logged out users) bot comments that insulted authors by suggesting they were using AI and not writing their own fics. Some examples, from the subreddit:
Tumblr media
But it then escalated to outright graphic porn images and gifs being posted in comments, again by logged out 'Guest' accounts. Obviously, I'm not going to give examples of those, but between these two bot infestations, AO3 has clearly decided to act and has temporarily closed the ability to post comments for users who are not logged in with an AO3 account.
Unfortunately, this means that genuine readers who don't have an AO3 account won't be able to leave comments on fics that they enjoy.
If you are a genuine reader who doesn't yet have an AO3 account, I strongly suggest getting yourself on the waiting list for one. More and more AO3 authors are now locking their fics down to registered users only - either due to these bot comments or concerns about AI scraping their work - which means you're probably missing out on a lot of great stuff.
Hopefully guest commenting will be enabled again at some point soon, but I suggest not waiting until then. Get yourself on that list.
Wait times are going to be longer than usual at the moment, due to the current Wattpad purge [info on Fanlore | Wattpad subreddit thread], but if you're in line, then your invite will come through eventually.
Update: There's now a Megathread about this on the AO3 subreddit.

Okay, but I need everyone to understand that I have been listening to Within Temptation and only Within Temptation because of one of the situations and scenarios I want to put the characters in.
Also, I've been trying my hand at original lyrics. They're crap, but I needed my own original lyrics to fit the theme. And I needed Within Temptation for style inspo.

Me: What if I just suddenly got really back into Yu-Gi-Oh and Puzzleshipping? And got ideas for fics?

I love each and everyone who's voted!
To explain, I used to post on ff.net. At the time when I was starting out, it was a common thing amongst the authors I read to have "chats" in lieu of author notes.
Where does the bit come in? If I remember right, I was eating some canned pears when I made a remark to a friend. They then told me, in a joking manner, to "Shut up and eat your pears!" To which I replied, while still eating them, "Never!"
I thought this exchange was so funny, I decided to use it in my "chats" in my works.
Came across it when going through my oldest works on ff.net.
I guess if you wanna read what 13yo Panda wrote, you can scour the works of Banana Theft on ff.net.
Everyone!
As always, reblog for a bigger sample size!

Trust Exercise
Hey-ya! Welcome to the companion piece to Bury Me, Bury Me! You can also read this on AO3 under the same name! Hope you enjoy! (Also, don't miss the extra bit under the cut!)
~~~~~
Title: Trust Exercise
Category: Gen, M/M
Fandom: Psych
Pairings: Carlton "Lassie" Lassiter & Karen Vick, Background Shassie
Characters: Carlton "Lassie" Lassiter, Karen Vick, Shawn Spencer (Background)
Warnings: Talks of Trust
Summary: Carlton Lassiter updates his emergency contacts, leading to a talk with HR and Police Chief Karen Vick.
~~~~~
"-I know this number. Mister Sp-"
"Please!" Carlton was quick to interrupt. He coughed embarrassedly and continued at a more reasonable volume, "Please, don't tell me his last name. I... haven't been told yet and I'm trying to... trust. Shawn... hasn't told me for his own reasons and if I were to find it out any other way... It feels like... I'd be betraying his trust."
It was the small things.
"You know my last name. Do I get yours?" It was teasing, but he could clock the way the younger man scanned the area. The way his anxiety manifested into unconscious, abrupt fidgeting. The way Shawn had to force a smile. The way it never reached his hazel eyes. The tightening of his shoulders before he forced himself to relax.
"And if I said that I don't wish to give it for personal reasons?"
It was the small things.
It was the small things that had him saying, "Then I would accept that, in spite of my curiosity."
"His trust?" Despite having dropped his gaze to his hands whilst reminiscing, Carlton knew his boss had a perfectly manicured blonde eyebrow raised. The man mulled over his words.
"His trust." Gritting his teeth, he finally bit out, "If the ruin of my marriage has taught me anything... I need to learn to trust more and listen to what the other person is saying."
His gaze was still trained on his hands, so he never noticed the exchange of astonished looks. He had no knowledge of the hesitantly approving smile the police chief was giving him.
 "Then we'll leave it out of the file for now." Lassiter's head whipped up to stare at his boss. Her smile widened at what he was sure was the surprise evident in his face. "It's not everyday my Head Detective trusts someone."
 Composing himself, the dark haired man straightened up and gave a firm nod. "Thank you, Chief."
 "Dismissed." Karen shook her head as she watched him leave. Life around the precinct was sure to get a little more interesting, that was for sure.
(Extra under the cut.)
Extra:
“Y’ello?”
Karen Vick had the patience of a saint, but dear lord does her Head Detective get on her nerves. “Hello, Mr. Spencer. My Name is Karen Vick, Chief of Police here at the SBPD.”
A moment of tense silence on the other end somehow conveyed that Shawn Spencer was listening with intent. “... And how can I help you, Chief Vick?”
Pinching the bridge of her nose, she exhaled an explosive sigh. “Please. Come pick up Lassiter before I am forced to suspend him.”
The blonde woman let a tired smile grace her lips at the rustling on the other end of the line. It was the distinct sound of someone pulling the phone from their ear.
“...I… What?” A faint jingle of keys could be heard. “I’m gonna be honest, this is not what I thought this call was going to be about. What’s Lassie done?”
“I can assure you, this was not what I thought making a call to an emergency contact would be about either, Mr. Spencer.” Her amusement faded as she heard yelling beyond her office door. “It’ll make sense when you get down here. And please hurry.”
“Yeah, sure! I’ll be there soon.” Karen prayed to whoever was listening, as the call ended, that things got less interesting around the precinct.
