And then he finds out about Wangxian... Just might as well kill him with how stupid it all is. (JC will lower the rent back down, but definitely would have them move hangers.)

Wangxian AU in which Lan Wangji buys a business jet and keeps getting ridiculous upgrades to it just so he can see stupidly hot avionics engineer Wei Wuxian.

Lan Wangji is heir to an old empire that’s recently come under public scrutiny as a result of Lan Xichen’s relationship with Jin Guangyao. The Lan’s security has been compromised, Lan Xichen injured, and their father killed. It isn’t safe for them anywhere - not in the big cities, and not in their safe houses, so, they decide to leave China temporarily, until everything dies own.

To leave, though? Lan Wangji refuses to fly commercial. There are too many risks. Especially for Lan Qiren, who was injured in a car crash only the other week.

So Lan Wangji purchases his own business jet. Boasting the height of luxury - of comfort, for Lan Qiren - and with a range of 8000 nautical miles, enough to get them where they need to go, it’s a simple decision.

Or at least, it seems simple. Who knew there were so many ways to customise the inside of a jet? Persian rug floors? Lotus silk bedsheets? Marble countertops in the kitchen?

“And,” Wei Wuxian points out, completely unaware of the fact that Lan Wangji is not listening. Lan Wangji is not doing anything but nodding along, his brain melted like honey from the moment he laid eyes on Wei Wuxian. “I heard you Lans like music. We can pimp out your jet with state of the art surround sound systems which’ll blast beijing opera with such clarity it’ll be like Mei Lanfang is sitting there with you, thirty thousand feet up. How about it?”

Lan Wangji just nods.

When Wei Wuxian suggests mood lighting, to recreate the calm of the Lan caves they famously love to meditate in? Lan Wangji nods.

Projectors with IMAX quality? Lan Wangji nods.

Upgrade those regular airplane to massage airplane seats? Lan Wangji nods.

And every time he receives a product email from the Jiang company informing him of a potential cool new upgrade? Lan Wangji waves his hand, buys it, and travels down to the hangar to watch it be installed by the pretty little avionics engineer.

Little does he know that Wei Wuxian spends his evenings and weekends brainstorming different potential upgrades that’ll make the demanding, hedonistic heir come crawling to the hangar to ‘oversee’ the maintenance of his precious little plane.

Also, this is an environmentally conscious AU because Lan Wangji never flies the plane. Ever. It just sits there in the Jiang hangar being constantly upgraded and painted and tinkered with by Wei Wuxian. This drives Jiang Cheng, the scheduler, absolutely bonkers. He sends daily emails asking ‘when bichen will fucking move’ and bichen just… never does. Jiang Cheng starts charging Lan Wangji rent. Lan Wangji pays it, just so he can see Wei Wuxian.

It may be a hot take, but Lan Zhan would not have glasses in Modern AU. If anyone was to have glasses, it would be Wei Ying.

And hear me out! I know we love the academically smart guy teacher pet having good ole 'smart looking glasses', but we need to remember that Lan Zhan is a perfect biological creation - his genes would bot fail him. And with that discipline? He would not be like us, mere mortals reading in the night and staring at screens. He would not let his eyes deteriorate by his own actions. That man is in perfect health in all aspects, eyesight included.

Wei Ying on the other hand? He is the man loving it in the night. He would be exactly like us, mere mortals, doing shit with really bad lighting. His saving grace are the excellent genes and pure awesomeness. But still. I'm a believer. I believe Wei Ying in Modern Au would have glasses. It was my agenda post. Now join me. okay but have you considered god of mercy wei wuxian? this guy had so many super valid reasons to crash the fuck out and basically annihilate the cultivation sects and he also had the power to! so imagine after he died he ascended as the new god of mercy and there are statues of him with his face covered with a sheer piece of cloth, and only in some very secret and secluded areas were there statues of him with his face and hed be serenely smiling with his eyes half and his nosed scrunched in the way that it does when hes smiling happily. the somewhat closed eyes symbolizes forgiveness and second chances, his willingness to pardon some mistakes, but he wont let everything slide. not every offence can be pardoned, which is why his eyes are still somewhat open

one day, between those 13 years of death lan wangji and maybe some of the juniors, perhaps sizhui and jingyi, are out on a nighthunt and they come across the statue and when lan wangji sees wei yings serene, smiling face carved out in the purest of gold, perfectly suitable to wei ying, he falls to his knees and silently weeps sizhui looks at the statues face and feels a sense of longing, though he cannot explain why.
