Hey webcomic makers and enjoyers!!

My very cool partner has been working on a site called webcomicweb to try to help collect comics and help people find them, spurred on by hiveworks dying* and randomwebcomic's domain expiring.

more info under the cut, but it is a voluntary webcomics directory and we'd love to have you check it out to add comics or read comics if you are interested!

We're both millennials who grew up with the birth of the webcomic format, spawned from passionate strangers making things out of the human need to make art and stories and connect. When you stumbled from comic to comic through webrings and link pages before the internet got so small and so centralized and before comics became a business model for middlemen who have never cared about them.

webcomicweb can't promise any of the things a big, corporate product can promise because it's run by one person and hosted on neocities as a passion project with a $5 domain. we're not planning on making this a business and we don't know how long it'll last! but at least! we give a shit! my partner's going to keep paying for this and keep updating this directory for at least as long as our own comic is running (estimating 8 years at least at this rate lmao) so if this sounds appealing to you: bookmark the site, send us your links, tell your friends, whatever!

some features I wanna highlight bc I like them:

default randomized comic order - Zani specifically did not want to have the list end up with a bias based on time or alphabet. every time you refresh it re-shuffles so everyone gets seen!

filterable ratings from Everyone to Explicit

comics can ONLY be submitted by comic owners, so if you don't want to be listed you will not ever be dragged in by mass link scrapers or w/e!!

no monetization - this is literally JUST a directory for serving and displaying links to comics. because we like comics. because we want more people to read cool things and we want to read more cool things.

There's categories for paused, scrapped, and finished comics as well as ongoing! it's hard to get people to look at old things you've made in this feed-based world!!! but there's still so many people who wanna see it!!

anyway yeah that's my pitch!!! neither me nor zani benefits from this in any way other than the fact that we get to read and share comics! that is literally the whole goal! They've also been sending out emails asking people if they want in, but anyway they are so cool and handsome check out their site

I think my favorite genre of fanfiction is when the author says something like "this was meant to be 3 chapters but it's actually going to be 5" in the notes at the end of a chapter and you can look up at the chapter count and it's like 15 or something

OCs are so fun and I think its awesome that even people who don't plan to publish a story or draw that well will have them. Its just good for you to have toys in your brain to play with.

im obsessed. im fucking obsessed. im not actually all that knowledgeable on jamie p's full catalogue but BIRDBRAIN is infecting every corner of my brain because it's Extremely Deliberate Amateurishness. Teto has like three false starts, she sings the wrong lyrics, you can hear her stumble, you can hear her strain her voice somehow (no fucking clue how you program a vocaloid track to sound strained like that) and it gives this whole song this wonderful feeling of anxiety and uncertainty in the most charming possible way for a song with the lyric "i keep on running like a chicken with its head cut off". like. it is so endearing that there is a song with a singer that is absolutely as Perfect as you Need Her To Be and it takes extra effort to write in fuck-ups and vocal strains and Jamie did it anyway. it gives the song such a real quality despite having a very robotic vocalist. thats so cool!!! thats SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a fun one, I've always liked those things too. Fits well I think, my first thought for it's deal was, maybe it was put up too close to the outside. Some raindrops got on it, so it's face got all smudged up/bled out and made it upset.

thats cute but i just prefered the funny thought that someone was just really dog shit at the drawing it made Tearutearu cry and that smuged the face even more i just cant decide who would i dubbed 'bad at drawing' at the church

You did one of those posts a little while ago, about getting put in the last media you consumed, and it was Deltarune; what sorta thing would you be? Darkworld creature or Hometown resident? Similar to an already existing one (like if you'd really want to be a church cup/cat family member), or a totally new one?

me and my friend Jem made darksonas the other day ! I they should have the honor to present their cool concept but here is mine:

mine is somehting im very attached to and u can call me a weeb for it but I just love Teru teru bozus. perhaps it was hung at the church but the drawing on the face wasnt all that great so it cant do its job properly

u have to do the steps in order to really beat it

could be a mini mini boss like miss mizzle.

my friend such a cool name for theirs...but im not really certain on mine... i like Gloomy but it doenst feel playwordy enough.
