rogue's powers as cannibalistic, as consumptive......leah williams had a tweet once about how that could be used to investigate her place as a white woman from the south and i think there's something to that. it's perfect that rogue's mama is mystique, another woman whose power is to appropriate the identities of others. rogue becomes other people on the inside and mystique becomes them on the outside. maybe that's why rogue gets more torn up about using her powers than mystique does. it's more intimate for her. it changes her inside. whereas for mystique the changes are literally only skin deep.
