i love shonen anime. because it always has at least one character that has such a moving development arc that it makes you bawl like a baby when it comes full circle. when said character starts out selfish and arrogant but grows to appreciate what he already has instead of what he thought he wanted to attain and saves the life of his best friend not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES even though he has the perfect opportunity to keep pursuing his self-centered desires. because someone he considered his partner put their trust in him so much that they were willing to let their guard down in front of him in the middle of a fight while he held literal god-like power.
