"Sun and Moon"

a feverish chill it creeps through flesh blankets are strewn over but all too small to cover patches leak through like sunlight in greenhouses yet warmth doesn’t arrive the moon never sets despite the blazing sun there is no way to cover the cold inside

a heart must be kept warm enough if blood can ebb and flow through icy veins a body can sustain itself but it’s hardly a way to live until the sun rises in the pink dips and valleys it pumps and pumps like sisyphus it pumps

in the back of my skull there is a divot i think a bullet would rest in it nicely i have no urge to load the pistol but i imagine the cold metal a precise yet imperfect cylinder tapered into a deceptively soft point nestled in that divot
