Favorite royal wedding look of all time has to be Alexandra Miller to Prince Alex von Fürstenberg in 1995. The gown is custom Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld and she is wearing the Fürstenberg “Ears of Wheat” jewels, consisting of a tiara and many brooches.

Firstly, I admire that it isn’t another Grace Kelly reinvention like her sister’s Valentino dress that same year. Nothing wrong with that but it’s trodden.

Onto Alexandra’s dress, I could gush about it forever. The structure. The fit. The sparing use of lace. In terms of the ensemble, nothing is being overpowered and it isn’t too ridiculously busy. I think the modest boquet and hairstyle were wise.

What puts it over the top for me is the ornamentation, how incorporated and beautifully arranged the jewels are: pinned onto the bodice, the sleeves, even the hem. It’s reminencient of old school royal brides in all their finery, literally dripping with jewels. Wheat is such a beautiful jewelry motif.

Elie Saab made some very beautiful wedding dresses for Grand Ducal Family of Luxemburg. And he is an excellent stylist and incredibly popular among royals and celebrities.
