Despite the man’s kind words, he felt terrible for not recognizing the young prince. He tried to make it his job to know all of the royals. If not by name, then at least by status. It was for reasons like this one. If he had done his job the way he expected himself to then there would never have been a misunderstanding about the identity of his supposed intruder. “Please, sir, let me know if there is anything I can do for you. I am not sure how long you have been at the palace, but I am more than happy to show you around.”
Tumblr media
Jeremy smiled sheepishly at the comment. He has been here for quite some time now actually. Serves him right for locking himself up in his room all day. He barely interacted with anyone. Anyone he didn’t know already that is. ‘’Thank you for the offer. If you have the time I would love a tour of this place,’’ Jeremy smiled politely not wanting to embarrass the man even further by admitting that he’s been here for some time already.  But that didn’t mean he knew the place. Most of the time was spend in his own room, so perhaps a tour of it all would be a good idea after all.

tristan kept his face neutral as the man in front of him smiled. he wasn’t used to people he stopped smiling at him. more grumbling or cursing, or whimpering even. it wasn’t like he was a small man after all. but no, they didn’t often smile. not unless they knew something that he did not. hearing the other’s words, tristan inwardly kicked himself, cursing rapidly in his mind as he tried to maintain his composure. he stepped back quickly, bowing his head. he had known their was a prince from new holland, but not who he was. for the most part, he had kept himself up to date with who was who. not necessarily who was the prince of which country, but he could normally pick out the royals from the help. to make such a drastic error put him to shame.
with his head still bowed, he spoke. “your highness, i do apologize. forgive me for my mistake.” looking back up, he reached out, taking the man’s hand. “tristan ruffo, your grace. i work as a guard for the royal family of monaco. please, except my humblest apologies for not recognizing you.”
Tumblr media
Jeremy gave the man’s hand a slight shake before he let go. A soft smile on his lips as the other apologized. ‘’There’s no need to apologize, I probably should’ve introduced myself when I arrived,’’ Instead, he spends most of the time on his own. He hasn’t met that many people yet and most of them were staff. So it wasn’t very odd for the guard to not recognize him. He wasn’t the crown prince, so was there any need to? And being the middle child meant that he didn’t get that much attention in the first place. Add the fact that he never asked for any and well you get Jeremy. He was used to it by now, so he didn’t mind.

Theodoor nodded to him, bowing slightly as a proper response to the other. Looking over the other, he smiled again, eyes taking in every bit of him before glancing at his book. “So, how is the library in this palais? I am use to great books of knowledge back home, but was only allowed to bring a selection. I’m afraid I will go through them very quickly.”
Tumblr media
‘‘Well, in that case, you’re lucky. The library here is absolutely beautiful. I’m sure it will be up to your standards,’’ It surely was for Jeremy and his families library was absolutely massive. He was sure there wasn’t a book in the known universe that didn’t have a copy there. And he missed it, a lot. But this library was a good alternative. ‘’Do you want me to show you where it is? Or would you prefer to get settled first?’’

“New Holland? Oh! You are the brother! You are so handsome, this makes so much sense!” he said with a warm smile. “I am friends with your brother. Well–I write to your brother. He has told me much about you.” He said with a small chuckle to himself. “I should have known by your last name that you two we of the same lineage.” He thought out loud, shaking his head at his own foolishness.
Tumblr media
The sudden excitement and compliment confused Jeremy a bit and left him with a bright blush on his face. He did his best to try to remain his calm self and succeeded in keeping the confusion off of his face while the bright blush unfortunately remained. ''Why thank you,'' Jeremy answered bashfully in response to the compliment. He tried to guess what his brother would tell the man in front of him but eventually decided to drop it. It couldn't be bad from the reaction he just got.

The hand stretching out to him was instantly met by his own with an even larger smile. “That is fine. A good book is worth any number of bruises one might get while walking.” He said with a gently hum. “Theodoor Koning, Holland. Hence the funny accent.” He said, teasing at himself. “But your accent it’s…rather interesting, not European.” He mused as he looked over the other.
Tumblr media
Holland? Jeremy suppressed a small smile and nodded when the other commented on his accent. ''That's because I'm not from Europe. I'm from Oceania, New Holland to be more exact,'' A hint of an amused smile traced his lips softly. He never really noticed his accent, but he supposed for someone else it was quite obvious. Hopefully, it wasn't obnoxious. Did interesting mean obnoxious? Jeremy didn't know and decided to not dwell on it.

Stepping out of the carriage, Theodoor stretched out eyes settling on the beautiful land that would be his new ‘home’. He had begged to take the train with the common folk, wanting to really experience the countryside as it was meant to be seen–by all. The threat of the plague instead kept him safely tucked away in a carriage, and he was grateful to finally be out of it. Coming to the front of the carriage, he gave the driver a thank you before running up the grand front of The Palais. He smiled at the mere sight of it before entering the front, thinking to himself about how beautiful and strange the place will be. Turning, he faced someone, giving them a soft smile. “Hallo! I-I am sorry, I didn’t mean to startle. I was just too enticed to wait and make a formal entrance.”
Tumblr media
Jeremy was walking around with his head in his book. One he has read at least a hundred times that he could recite it front to back. It wasn't his favorite book but it was in his top ten. He must've walked around the place for a while now as he almost fully finished the book. Ever once in a while, he would bump into something, most of the times a wall, but luckily nobody was around to see his stupidity. It didn't take long before he finished and with a smile, he closed the book only to look up and be greeted by a face with a smile of his own. Jeremy was startled but he didn't show it.
''It's fine, nothing to apologize for, I should've watched where I was going,'' Jeremy answered politely, his smile of happiness turns into a polite one more reserved for formal meetings. ''And since you're new, welcome. My name's Jeremy Harrington, it's a pleasure to meet you,'' Jeremy reached out his hand for a handshake as he placed the book under his other arm.

ever since the propaganda came out he had found himself roaming the halls more and more often. he felt confident that his time was better spent looking for possible palace intruders than simply watching a door. any guard could watch doors. the longer no one was spotted coming from outside the castle, the higher the chances that it was someone inside the castle putting up the posters. turning the corner towards the library, his eyes settled on a figure leaving. he didn’t recognize this man, and was confident that they had not yet met. regardless, he felt confident that this was not the intruder. what kind of intruder went to the library? he was about to turn around when he noticed the book under the man’s arm. his eyebrows furrowed and he quickly made his way over to the man, stepping in front of him.
Tumblr media
“these books are the royal families, and are not to be stolen. i suggest you put it back before we have a problem.”
Books as far as the eyes could reach. That was one way to describe the library here, and Jeremy absolutely loved it. After a full hour of just browsing around Jeremy decided to take some of them back to his room. Just five of them. None of which he had read before so he looked forward to reading them. Especially with what was going on he thought it was a good idea to get his mind off of the things around him. It wasn't as if he could change it, so there really wasn't a point in being bothered by it. At least not now. He was about to make his way back to his room when he suddenly got stopped by someone. The words were heard but they took a second to come through to him. A soft patient smile graced his lips. Being the middle child had its perks but it seems that these days only the downsides showed up. He couldn't say that he blamed the man, he wasn't the most sociable. But to not even be recognized, well let's say a tiny bit of his pride couldn't help but be kicked by it.
''The name's Jeremy Harrington, sir.'' He wasn't sure if his name was enough to show the man who he was. ''Prince of New Holland,'' Jeremy added softly just to be sure. ''It's a pleasure to meet you,'' Jeremy made sure that the books were secure under his arm before he reached out his hand for a handshake.

Jeremy wasn’t one to grab the spotlight. Keeping mostly to himself and his books. But spending all your time indoors wasn’t healthy so he forced himself out of the comforts out of his own room to take a walk through the gardens. Jeremy was aware of what was happening around the castle but chose to keep himself out of it. In the end, he didn’t really have any power. Unless something would happen to his brother he would never become king, and quite frankly he liked it that way. And while it was beautiful he wasn’t quite sure what to do other than just staring at the flowers as he walked around. If he was an artist he could at least draw them. And while he wrote his own songs the garden was a too public place to practice them.  He wasn’t left to ponder over what he should be doing as someone suddenly greeted him.
‘’Yes, it’s quite beautiful,’’ Jeremy agreed with a polite little smile. He wasn’t really one for small talk. Not because he didn’t like people but because he never knew what to say to keep the conversation going. So he’d rather not try in fear of making a fool of himself. Being the middle child had its advantages. It was easy to keep a low profile. And while that hurt sometimes he tried to look at it at the positive side.
Tumblr media
gregoire walked through the gardens with his head low but his eyes scanning, he was more vigilant than ever before now with the propaganda surfacing about the palace walls. he was listening for anyone supporting or encouraging such acts of revolution. he slipped past most unnoticed due to him keeping a relatively low profile within the palace walls. most who knew of him passed him off as a simple duke, and those who knew him well enough to know he was a man to be feared, he was almost certain were too afraid to be an issue for him. being relatively unknown to anyone outside of france allowed the duke to overhear some interesting conversations for the most part, but now he was looking for solid proof within the whispers in the halls. as he walked he seemed to only be searching the faces of those he passed as if to greet them rather than reading them for any sort of off behavior.

“beautiful day in the garden, is it not?”

grant gustin, 26. now announcing prince, jeremy harrington, the prince of new holland. he is in favor in favor of forming alliances during the plague and continues to work for the benefit of their homeland. they are said to be caring and selfless, yet can be gullible and stubborn. in the palais foncé, they are known as the pristine. [mary, 18, cet]
Hiya everyone! My name’s Mary and this is my dumb baby Jeremy. Just hit me up if you want to plot with me. Here are some facts about the new kid:
Jeremy is nothing if not patient. Some might say he has too much of it
He absolutely adores music and plays several instruments. And while he sings as well only a handful of people have heard him sing seriously.
If there’s anything he might even like more than music it’s reading. Libraries are a second home to him and if you can’t find him he’s most likely unintentionally hiding in the nearby library.
So if you can’t think of anything to give him as a gift a book is always good. Even terrible books are great to him if for nothing than to just add to his ever growing collection.
